We all have things that make us feel alive. For me, two things I really love doing are listening to music and cooking. They are simple things, but they give me peace, joy, and even inspiration when life feels too noisy or stressful.
Let me start with music first
Music has always been a part of me. I don’t play any instrument, but im a chorinster in church, so I can spend hours just listening. Sometimes it’s soft soul music, other times it’s Afrobeat, R&B, or gospel. It really depends on my mood. When I’m happy, I play something upbeat and dance around in my room. When I’m sad or confused, I listen to calm songs that speak to me like a friend.
There are days I just plug in my earpiece, close my eyes, and forget about everything going on around me. It helps me think clearly, especialy when I’m stuck in work or feeling anxious. Music has a way of giving me strength when I’m weak, or comfort when I feel alone. I can’t even explain it, but it feels like im healing.
Funny enough, sometimes when I’m designing or working on content, I get ideas just by listening to a song. It’s like music unlocks a creative part of my brain. So I would say music is not just something I enjoy it’s also something that helps me grow mentally and emotionally.
Now let’s talk about cooking.
I didn’t eat much like that but i always love cooking. I love the process of selecting ingredients, trying new recipes, and seeing the final result. Cooking gives me a sense of control and accomplishment. You mix things together and turn them into something good and people enjoy it too.
My favorite dishes to cook are jollof rice, spaghetti, fried rice, and sometimes local soups. I also love trying out new twists, like adding something different just to see how it changes the taste. It makes me feel creative, like I’m making art with food.
One thing I enjoy most is cooking with music playing in the background. That’s a perfect moment for me just in my space, chopping onions, singing along to a favorite song, and creating something delicious. It’s peaceful and fulfilling.
Sometimes I share my meals with friends or family, and when they compliment it, it makes me feel proud.especially during the festive period when people gather together to celebrate,i cook till my last energy finish you know Cooking is one of those little things that brings people together. And when I cook for myself, it’s my way of showing love to my own body.
In this fast world, we all need things that keep us grounded. For me, it’s the music in my ears and the food on my plate.
With Love🧡🩷❤️
