If I have the money to buy a house and I have two options to take one. The first, a big beautiful house that needs a lot of repairs and remodeling and the price is low and then the second, a small not as beautiful as the former but does not need repairs and it's expensive. Which would I choose?
Now, already, 3things stands out to discourage me from taking the latter as the best option. They are "small", "not as beautiful as", and lastly "expensive".
Therefore, I will opt for the former. I am fully aware that this choice comes with stress. Repairs and remodeling are not easy tasks. They require patience, financial discipline, and the ability to cope with delays and unexpected costs.
There will be days when I will wonder if I made the right choice, especially when I am dealing with contractors, dust, noise, and the inconvenience of living through renovations. I know it will test my resolve, but deep down, I believe that struggles today can lead to lasting comfort tomorrow.
Yes, at first glance, the smaller house seemed tempting- it offers immediate comfort with no stress of repairs. But as I think more deeply, I realize that the bigger house is the wiser choice for me. I prefer the one that needs repairs because, once I am done furnishing it to my taste, I will have nothing to worry about. I won’t have to deal with the thought of outgrowing my home or facing the frustration of inadequate space.
I imagine the joy of hosting relatives and welcoming visitors who would love to spend time with me for some days without worrying about space. I can also imagine throwing small parties and gatherings right under my own roof instead of renting event centers (no matter how small the party) again and again, a cost that in time might even surpass what I invest in repairs now.

For me, investing now to enjoy later makes the most sense. Yes, the smaller ready-to-live house offers immediate comfort, it also brings the long-term burden of limited space, unfulfilled desires, and eventual extra spending. On the other hand, the larger house, once completed, means I can rest easy for years to come, with no worries about expansion or relocation.
To me, this is more than just a financial decision; it is an investment in peace of mind. I would rather endure the stress of today and the discomfort of renovations than settle for temporary comfort and regret later. Spending now to enjoy later is not just wise, it is the kind of decision that ensures lasting happiness.
