Larva of the horsfield's tussock moth

in Nature Observer11 days ago

On a quiet and peaceful morning I returned to explore the outdoors by walking through the path. Continue exploring while glancing here and there to find something interesting to capture. When passing a park, my eyes accidentally glanced at someone who was walking on a banana leaf. Immediately stepping closer to the place, the person was very busy walking back and forth on the leaves. It seemed like he was doing morning exercise under the soft sunlight.

He was the larva of the Horsfield's tussock moth or in Latin known as calliteara horsfieldii, which is one of the caterpillars from the erebidae family. The caterpillar has a very beautiful color, from a distance only bright yellow is visible. Seen from a closer distance, its body is yellowish white. On the front back there is a solid black color that circles like a necklace, it seems like a special motif designed by nature to scare predators. His entire body is protected by long fur that is also bright yellow.

Wow. This is so amazing colour insect. I like it

Thank you, glad to know you like it.

One scary yet beautiful creature. You captured it well. I encountered a similar tussock larva a year or two ago. It never fails to amaze me, and makes me wish to see it turn into a moth :)

Thank you. I also really want to see their metamorphosis process, but so far I haven't found it. only found separate ones like this.

You live in a forest. Do you take a picture of some plant or bird every day? 😂

Yes, I take pictures of them every day. Their charm makes me addicted. Thank you for visiting.

These photographs are impressive as all your photos, I see that you are a nature lover, you manage to capture in a photo how magical and wonderful mother earth is and all its inhabitants no matter how small they may be, I love your photos.

Thank you very much dear for your appreciation. I am happy to share the little beauties of nature that often go unnoticed. I am also happy to know that you like my shots. Happy weekend.
