Hover fly

At the tip of a slender leaf, a hover fly stood gracefully, as if balancing the silent world. Its body was tiny, yet its charm belied its tiny size. Its tiny body was adorned with exquisite colors. Brownish yellow, white, gray, and jet black blended beautifully in one frame. Every detail of color resembled a delicate painting created by nature and time, unhurriedly and meticulously.

When we first met, its wings were folded neatly over its back. I managed to capture several images with its wings tightly closed. Then, it spread its wings. I thought it was about to fly away. But no, it remained faithful to the tip of the leaf. Its wings were transparent and adorned with a beautiful veined pattern. When the sunlight reflected off them, they cast a beautiful sheen. Its body also glistened as the sunlight reflected off the surrounding leaves.

The leaf wasn't just a resting place for it, but a silent witness to the tiny insect's journey. The fresh green leaves surrounding it provide a harmonious backdrop for the insect. To the hurried eye, this insect appears ordinary and often goes unnoticed. In its own world or in the wild, this insect is a true explorer who never knows the word fatigue. It knows the heat of the sun, the cold of the morning dew, and the gusts of wind that are not always friendly. Yet this tiny insect never hesitates to take steps to explore a universe far too vast for its tiny body.
