Healthy Zobo drink for creative Sunday

in Hive Learners9 days ago

Happy creative Sunday everyone. I hope your weekend is restful. This Sunday, I would like to share the process of making one of my favourite drinks with you. I will be making a zobo drink, which is also known as hibiscus tea. This drink is very popular in Nigeria and also a very healthy choice of drink.

Making this drink was very random. My brother came in with a bunch of zobo ingredients, and he asked me to help him prepare the drink. I was unsure of how I was going to prepare it, so I had to quickly do some research on YouTube.

Making this drink was easier than I thought, all I did was to add all the ingredients in a pot and boil. You can add whatever fruit you like, provided the main ingredient is dry hibiscus leaves (zobo leaves).

Ingredient used:

  • dry hibiscus leaves
  • pineapple
  • Ginger
  • Cloves
  • Cucumber
  • flavouring (optional)

Process:

I washed all my ingredients thoroughly. I peeled the pineapple and put the peels into the pot.

I added the hibiscus leaves, ginger and cloves

I sliced the pineapple and cucumber and added it to the pot

I then added water and boil.

I boiled it for about 30 mins

I removed the pineapple and cucumber I added earlier and blended it into a puree.

I didn’t add the puree back into the pot, I left it to be served separately.

I sieved the drink, allowed it to cool and stored it in containers.

My bro loved it but my taste bud was not a fan. Its taste was not appealing so I added flavouring to mine. I added an orange flavour to it and it improved the taste.

Will you be trying this drink? Share your thoughts in the comments.
