La ceremonia se llevó a cabo a las 8:00 de la mañana en la iglesia Santa Ana, escogimos este recinto por su ubicación ya que a mis tías de mayor edad se les dificulta asistir a sitios más lejanos. Además, gran parte de mi familia vive cerca de este templo, otra razón lógica para esta elección.
The ceremony took place at 8:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Church. We chose this venue because of its location, since it is difficult for my older aunts to go to places farther away. Also, most of my family lives near this church, another logical reason for this choice.
Nuestro compromiso y emoción era aún mayor pues tendríamos invitados de otras latitudes, los padrinos, viajaron desde Caracas, mi tío Edwin y nuestro amigo José Alejandro nos hicieron el honor de acompañarnos en este ritual sagrado. En tanto una de las madrinas (la hermana de mi esposo) se trasladó desde la isla de Margarita, lo que hizo que la celebración fuera aún más significativa.
Our commitment and excitement was even greater because we would have guests from other latitudes, the godparents traveled from Caracas, my uncle Edwin and our friend José Alejandro did us the honor of accompanying us in this sacred ritual. Meanwhile one of the godmothers (my husband's sister) traveled from Margarita Island, which made the celebration even more meaningful.

Three fundamental elements accompanied the ceremony: the white handkerchief - the work of my mother who is an excellent seamstress - symbolizes purity and innocence, living free of sins. The candle, whose meaning is associated with the baptized as the light of the world. And of course the holy water that is poured over the children, which has the function of purifying the spirit and keeping in force the millenary tradition initiated by St. John the Baptist.
Alma, nuestra pequeña, lucía radiante con su vestido en una combinación perfecta de blanco y champagne, acompañado de un delicado tocado, cortesia de su tía Aura. Unas hermosas sandalias llenas de flores ataviaban sus delicados pies. En tanto, en su muñeca llevaba una esclava que le regaló su padrino Edwin. Parecía toda una querubina desfilando por la iglesia.
Alma, our little girl, looked radiant in her dress in a perfect combination of white and champagne, accompanied by a delicate headdress, courtesy of her aunt Aura. Beautiful sandals full of flowers adorned her delicate feet. Meanwhile, on her wrist she wore a slave given to her by her godfather Edwin. She looked like a cherub parading through the church.
