Splinterland's : My tips to survive in Survival mode.

in Hive Gaming9 days ago

I have already written about the Splinterland's Survival mode in my previous post and tested the survival game mode using my alt account to get an understanding of the game mode so that I can be better prepared for this game mode. Few of the key point that I learnt from that testing was as below.

  1. Card lost in battle cannot be played further any game mode(until cooldown/reset) even you win the battle.
  2. Surrendering the game still cause 1 summoner and 1 card to be depleted.(Depleted=Card lost in survival game mode)
  3. Auto surrendering is the worst in this game mode.

For detailed analysis of these above points, do visit my old post where I explained them.

So my survival tips will be based on my experience of the survival mode so far and what I learnt from the experience of the other players and the game mode behavior. Most of the players in notion survival mode is one of the good way to use their single BCX card, I feel that the very notion is the reason that most of the players are not having good experience in the survival mode.

1. Do not flag your best card for survival mode.

Check for the above image, I went with my level 4 summoner to crush the opponent, I simply did not flagged my summoners for not taking part in the battle, I want to take this decision based on opponent battle history and level of cards that opponent is using, If my opponent wants to play with 1 BCX cards then I am highly likely to deploy my strongest team to win the battle without losing any card. This strategy is simply possible because I am not restricting my cards for survival mode but instead taking a rational decision while forming the team for battle. I will repeat again that do not consider survival mode as 1 BCX card battle mode.

2. Use multiple copies cards as feeder to save high BCX card.

I am putting the strong tank but I am not sure that how strong sneak attack opponent can launch, for this purpose, I like to use that furious chicken in end to save my strong attacker and let allow opponent to take my cards for which I have multiple copies.

3. Do not Auto surrender/ surrender.

Auto surrender at current state (when I tested the survival mode) do halt the game (please check the post I mentioned above) and do cause you to lose 2 cards and same happen with surrender that cause you to lose 2 cards. So I will suggest instead of doing surrender , maybe you yourself decide which 2 cards (1 summoner + 1 monster) you want to get depleted from you team and field them, who knows that luck might be with your side?

4. Tips for survival mode are all same as ranked but battle with caution.

When we start the battle in any mode of the splinterlands, our motive is to win the battle and same is true but here is catch that some strategy really need modification for survival mode like martyr cards. In normal ranked mode we want to opponent to kill our martyr card for elevated stats for other monsters. But if opponent kill our martyr card in survival mode then it will be depleted, if it is not killed then whole purpose of this card having on team will be defeated. Maybe are these the cards for which we will be needing extra extra extra multiple copies?

5. Planning to take full advantage of last hours before season resets.

So game rules already announced that they want to encourage the season rentals and for this view they want the survival mode "cooldown" to be completed with season reset irrespective of the individual card reset timer. It look a perfectly good time to get all in with all your might to play survival mode in last 36 hours. Not only playing will with all your might help you in formulating the new strategies but also make you better understand your limitations and strengths in the survival mode. All the experience that you can gain here with max penalty of some 36 hours of depletion if you start playing survival mode before 36 hours of season end.

My 2 cents.

I will still say it is too early to list the tip and tricks of the survival game mode and I also haven't played enough of the survival mode also, but whatever strategy currently I am proposing is based on the game rules, my limited testing of the game mode and some limited play of the battles in this mode. One of the good stratergy here is read more about the "experiences" of fellow players, analyze the battles of yours even you won the battle and take a look on the other players battle might greatly help to create some new innovative strategy or help you to pick some tried and tested strategy. Overall motive is here to win the battles without getting a dent/depletion on the card collection that can hamper the "uniqueness" of the cards in the collection.

Ouch, it looks like surrendering isn't going to go well with survival mode. I guess your idea of choosing the summoner and card to lose is a way better option. I haven't played any yet, but with all the card management, it sounds rough. It doesn't seem to appeal to me as much.

I am planning to jump on the last day of the season in full fray to take advantage of automatic card reset.
On the other hand I am thinking if I can get some rental income by creating some good curvival deck for rent.
It all time consuming , I got understanding, I got idea but execution is now a challenge.

I already played but since I lost I was left without cards, so I think I won't play this survival mode anymore.
