I still can’t believe this because it will be my first time. I have never been careless with my phone, not even for once, because I always hold onto it wherever I go, like it’s my life. Why not? Everything is on my phone, and it wouldn’t be a good idea to lose it, except that I'm getting a new one.
My sister and I decided to stroll out to the junction to get some things including what we would be having for dinner. We walked for more than thirty minutes to where we needed to get those things, and as we sat down waiting for the little rain that was drizzling, I kept my phone on the bench we sat on, hoping I would remember to take it when we were about to leave. But as we stood, I didn’t realise I had forgotten my phone on the bench, and we left.
We’d walked for about ten minutes and gotten to a carpenter’s shop. I’d planned to make an enquiry for a small table to place my fridge, but every time I passed by the carpenter shop, another thought would say, “It’s not yet time,” but all of a sudden this evening, the Holy Spirit wanted me to stop by to make the enquiry.
I never knew He wanted me to notice I’d forgotten my phone and that it was not with me. It could have been lost completely if I had gotten home which would have taken another thirty minutes. By then, the hope of getting my phone after such a long time might have been impossible except God did His miracle, which He did because the place I left it at was an open place where people were passing through.
As I talked to the guy asking for the amount, and he asked for a picture of my fridge so he could know what he would be doing, I reached into my pocket, and I couldn’t find my phone. I said out loud, "My phone. I forgot it there," and told my sister to run along to check if my phone was still there. I had calculated that no one would have spotted it sitting on the bench and I whispered for God to help me find it.
But guess what? I wasn’t tense. I was smiling and praising God instead of panicking. Do you know why? I was calm and rested assured it would be found because I knew it was the Holy Spirit who made me stop at the carpenter’s shop so He could make me aware of my phone since I would be needing it to get a picture for the guy.
Thankfully, my sister ran back with my phone. She told me the lady who owns the shop where we bought things from had already found it and knew I had forgotten it and so helped me keep it. While she saw my sister approaching, she immediately ran to meet her and handed my phone to her. I whispered and looked up at the sky, “Thank you, Father.”
My phone would have gone if not for God, and also, I didn’t panic but trusted Him to help me find it, and He did. It’s still a surprise to me because it has never happened to me but I believe God has a way of revealing His power each day and then glorifying Himself through us.
