Hello again friends! I realized that I never reported back when I completed knitting the bandages I was making for a doctor in the Philippines who asked knitters and crocheters to make them for her leprosy patients. She said they work better than the gauze kind, ergo asking for crafters to come together and make some retention bandages for them.
It was my first time knitting with crochet thread, and after a brief adjustment period, I quite enjoyed it! I want to do more projects with it in future. One ball of 1000 yds (914 m) of thread got me 4 bandages, two of them 3" wide and two 4" wide (both 4' long). And I mean that exactly. I was playing yarn chicken at the end, and I thought I had lost, but after washing discovered the last one was long enough! It's quite difficult to measure the length of them, as they are stretchy.
These photos are them hanging to dry after washing. Then I bagged them up so they would stay clean for shipping:
Now I just need to make another trip to the post office when I have money to ship them (which will probably be expensive, but I haven't done the postage calculator to figure out exactly how much yet). Hopefully they help someone out as they receive treatment though!
If you would like to knit or crochet some bandages for the doctor and her patients too, the info is in the first link above. Have a wonderful week!
