A few days ago, I was asked the question that titles this post. A sincere and very valid question. I'm not an expert in markets or economics, but I have been an active and enthusiastic Hive user for years.
So, with honesty and some context, here's my personal opinion.
The most visible data point: the price of the HIVE token.
Over the last year, the token's value has steadily fallen. According to CoinGecko, it's trading much lower today than it was 12 months ago.
But be aware: it's not alone. Many cryptocurrencies have had similar trajectories. What is striking is its drop in the market capitalization ranking: from around 300th place to around 640th. This does reflect a relative loss of relevance compared to other networks.
Beyond the price: what about its purpose?
This is where Hive remains strong. Their initial proposal (a blockchain for decentralized content, resistant to censorship and with an immutable history) remains intact.
Every post, comment, or edit is recorded forever, with a date and cryptographic signature. That's not just technical: it's a reliable digital record. And that doesn't depreciate with the market.
The social aspect: still under construction.
As a social network, Hive has enormous potential, but also clear challenges. Interaction, retaining new users, and the mobile experience are still areas of development. It's not a massive platform, but it is a committed community, with creators who value true ownership of their content and transparent rules.
And that detail matters: you control your keys. It's not easy to freeze your account, delete your history, or change your voice without your signature. That digital sovereignty isn't traded on the stock exchange; it's exercised, day after day.
And the future?
There have been rumors about AI integrations, such as using Hive for decentralized auditing of artificial intelligence models.
If that matures, it could give it a new technical and functional boost. But for now, its greatest strength remains what it has always been: a living, open, and verifiable archive.
In short:
Hive has declined as a financial asset, but not as a trusted infrastructure.
It has quietly grown as a space for free expression and ethical record-keeping.
And although it lacks scale, its essence —decentralized, auditable, human— remains more alive than ever.
It's not a story of explosive growth or collapse. It's one of resilience, slow evolution, and constant purpose. And that, in times of so much ephemeral effervescence of #blockchains, also matters.

¿Hive está creciendo o decayendo?
Hace unos días me hicieron la pregunta que titula este post. Una pregunta sincera, y muy válida. No soy experto en mercados ni en economía, pero sí un usuario activo y entusiasta de #hive desde hace años. Así que, con honestidad y algo de contexto, aquí va mi opinión personal.
El dato más visible: el precio del token HIVE.
En el último año, el valor del token nativo ha caído de forma constante. Según CoinGecko, hoy cotiza mucho más bajo que hace 12 meses. Pero ojo: no está solo. Muchas criptomonedas han tenido trayectorias similares.
Lo que sí llama la atención es su caída en el ranking de capitalización de mercado: de la posición ~300 a cerca de la 640. Eso sí refleja una pérdida relativa de relevancia frente a otras redes.
Más allá del precio: ¿Qué pasa con su propósito?
Aquí es donde Hive sigue firme. Su propuesta inicial —una blockchain para contenido descentralizado, resistente a la censura y con historial inmutable— sigue intacta.
Cada publicación, comentario o edición queda registrado para siempre, con fecha y firma criptográfica. Eso no es sólo técnica: es una memoria digital confiable. Y eso no se deprecia con el mercado.
La parte social: aún en construcción.
Como red social, Hive tiene un potencial enorme, pero también desafíos claros. La interacción, la retención de nuevos usuarios y la experiencia móvil siguen siendo áreas en desarrollo. No es una plataforma masiva, pero sí una comunidad comprometida, con creadores que valoran la propiedad real de su contenido y la transparencia de las reglas.
Y ese detalle importa: tú controlas tus claves. No es fácil congelar tu cuenta, borrar tu historia ni cambiar tu voz sin tu firma. Esa soberanía digital no se negocia en bolsa, se ejerce, día a día.
¿Y el futuro?
Hubo rumores sobre integraciones con IA, como usar Hive para auditoría descentralizada de modelos de inteligencia artificial. Si eso madura, podría darle un nuevo impulso técnico y funcional. Pero por ahora, su mayor fortaleza sigue siendo lo que siempre ha sido: un archivo vivo, abierto y verificable.
En resumen:
Hive ha decayendo como activo financiero, pero no como infraestructura de confianza.
Ha crecido silenciosamente como espacio de expresión libre y registro ético.
Y aunque le falta escala, su esencia —descentralizada, auditable, humana— sigue más viva que nunca.
No es una historia de crecimiento explosivo ni de colapso. Es una de resistencia, evolución lenta y propósito constante. Y eso, en tiempos de tanta efervescencia efímera, también cuenta.
