An Unexpected Encounter with Cuban Todies!- SMaP 230 🦜

in Feathered Friends β€’ 9 days ago

A few days ago, I had a wonderful surprise: while walking, I spotted something small and colorful perched on a house’s porch. It was a Cuban tody! This bird, endemic to Cuba, with its green, red, and white feathers, usually lives deep in the forests. I stood still, not wanting to scare it, when… its mate appeared! At that moment, I only had my phone with me, so the photos might not do these little ones justice, but I still wanted to share this rewarding experience with you.

Seeing a pair of Cuban todies was thrilling, especially since it was my first time observing them so closely. These tiny birds, so shy and tied to dense vegetation, are rarely seen in urban areas. What were they doing there? Maybe searching for a new home or simply resting on their journey.

It was a reminder of the unique beauty of our wildlife and how nature always surprises us. I hope we can preserve their habitats so they continue to shine with their vibrant colors.

So vivid and striking colours. How lucky you are to spot them so near.

It was a magical experience seeing those birds for the first time. They’re very rare to spot in urban areas, and they’re endemic to my country... They’re adorable and very tiny.
