I’m sharing the latest thing I’ve done in my traditional sketchbook. As I’ve explained before, this is the main objective of this blog: to serve as a record of my learning in drawing. That’s why I don’t always share finished drawings, many times I share processes and practices regardless of how they turn out, since I consider them a fundamental part of the learning journey.
Les comparto lo último que he realizado en mi sketchbook tradicional. Como bien he explicado, este es el objetivo principal de este blog: que funcione como registro de mi aprendizaje en el dibujo. Así que no siempre comparto dibujos terminados, muchas veces comparto más bien procesos y prácticas sin importar cómo queden, ya que las considero como parte principal del camino del aprendizaje.
Since I started a new notebook, I wanted to follow the tradition of beginning with a free drawing, so I drew these blue mushrooms to mark the start of what will be 100 pages of smudges, doodles, and ugly drawings.
Como comencé una nueva libreta quise seguir la tradición de empezar con un dibujo libre y dibujé estos hongos azules para dar inicio a lo que serán 100 hojas de borrones, garabatos y dibujos feos.
We continue with the cartoonish faces from Andrew Loomis’ book Fun With A Pencil. This time I went further and drew from the simplest faces to the most complex ones. It still keeps that characteristic illustration style, but I think it’s a good beginning for a more realistic illustration.
Continuamos con los rostros caricaturescos del libro Fun With A Pencil de Andrew Loomis, esta vez fui más allá y dibujé de los rostros más simples a los más complejos, sigue manteniendo ese estilo de ilustración característico pero creo que es un buen comienzo para una ilustración más realista.
I’m now starting to focus more on practices in human anatomy, mainly because one of my goals is to learn how to draw bodies and characters.
Ya comienzo a centrar más las prácticas en la anatomía humana, sobre todo porque uno de mis objetivos es ese: aprender a dibujar cuerpos y personajes.
Without a doubt, drawing muscles and visualizing the body as many connected parts is very complicated for me, but the results are much more realistic when you take into account the shape of each muscle and its structure separately.
Sin dudas se me complica mucho dibujar los músculos e imaginar el cuerpo como muchas partes conectadas, pero los resultados son mucho más realistas cuando se tiene en cuenta la forma de cada músculo y su estructura por separado.

I had to redo the drawing of the muscles in profile more than once; they were very complicated for me, especially the areas of the leg below the knee and the connection of the legs with the rest of the body. I'm not at all happy with these results. When I tackle these drawings again, I'll try to observe more anatomical references.
Tuve que repetir más de una vez el dibujo de los músculos de perfil, se me hicieron muy complicados, sobre todo las zonas de la pierna por debajo de la rodilla y la unión de las piernas con el resto del cuerpo. No estoy nada contento con estos resultados, cuando vuelva a la carga sobre estos dibujos, trataré de observar más referencias anatómicas.

To finish up, I redid some models from Volume I of the book Tronco. I've heard very good things about this book for practicing more stylized poses, so I'm following its pages, and it has many very simple and easy-to-follow examples. These particular studies are again of the collarbone area.
Para terminar, rehíce algunos modelos del Tomo I del libro Tronco. Me han hablado muy bien de este libro para practicar posturas más estilizadas, así que estoy siguiendo sus páginas y tiene muchos ejemplos bien simples y fáciles de seguir. Estos estudios en específico vuelven a ser de la zona de la clavícula.
