Travelling is always fun but the preparations to be done for travelling can get stressful. In May me and my family are planning to visit Japan which I mentioned and for that so many arrangements have to be made, the most important being ticket, visa and hotel bookings. Ticket I booked way in advance in thank god for that because now the prices have gone up by 25%. When I booked I felt I paid more because before that I had checked and the fares were less and by the time I booked they had gone up by 10K, but now they have gone up by 40K, it's lot more.
I never knew planning Japan would be so challenging. Almost every attraction ticket I need to book in advance because there is heavy rush and long waiting queues. One of the days we are planning to visit the Universal studios and for that the normal ticket price is decent, but the express pass is exorbitantly priced. There is so much rush every single day there that if we do not take the express pass then possibly in a day I can do maximum 3 to 4 rides because each ride waiting time is approx 2 hours. That's what I see all over on Insta, people sharing their experiences.
The other thing is that all the prices are dynamic, closer to the date they get expensive. Normally attraction tickets are standard but that's not the case here. And some attractions if you do not book in advance then possibly you will not get it last minute. Their bullet trains are super fast but again very expensive. I planned it all by myself and that's why I am still able to manage in my budget but if my same itinerary I would book through agent then it would cost me 30 to 40% more of what I am spending right now.
Anyways the place is on my wish list and I need to do it before it gets way too expensive. This state of dynamic pricing have been only in the last few years because of heavy tourism. I am guessing with time it's going to get more expensive. Also when you visit this place you need to be prepared to walk a lot, what I read everywhere is that a tourist walks anything between 15k to 20K steps daily, I am sure for old people it would be challenging, else take a cab which can become expensive again. so better do it now itself till my energy level is good :-)
