The questions this week for @LadiesofHive - Contest # 193 are:
1️⃣ I would like to know how you have taken on and accomplished a home repair or upgrade project that you are proud of.
~ 𝐀𝐍𝐃 / 𝐎𝐑 ~
2️⃣ And, after a job well done, what will you do to celebrate?
These questions are quite apt for me in the moment. A few days back I almost completed my home project. It was not a repair or upgrade project but building a totally new home and yes, I am super proud of it for accomplishing this goal. It is my dream home, exactly what I wanted and a dream that was slowly gradually built over the years.
While all of it looks good now, but I must say that it has been the most challenging project, specially for me not living in the place where it was being built and not living in the Country also. I had to keep making frequent visits to monitor the progress. And the little time that I would be at the site I had like 1000s of things to manage and then while I was away it was supervising everything over the camera that were installed and on video calls with the contractors doing the job.
There were many times when goof ups happened and when on reaching there and noticing it I had to get it all redone. I also appointed one supervisor to coordinate and give me regular updates but again that was not sufficient because he would not always think the way I would want things to happen.
The other challenge was that the site of the home is in a small village where the roads are not proper and getting any material is a challenge, so I had to every time get things from the city delivered by a truck. At one point of time the village road was closed down for a month for repair work and during that time we had to use a road which was mucky and not at all in a good condition. This was the toughest part in the whole process, because many vendors refused to deliver goods on this road. Somehow I would convince them and I would travel with them so that they do not back out half way.
The other challenge was at the end on the painting work, the painter did a very messy job and I was very disappointed, that after putting in so much efforts the final outcome was coming out shabby. I had to get the complete painting work redone again from another contractor and that also costed me extra money. This was the part where I also got drained out emotionally, because the house warming was just in a week's time and the house was looking a total mess. Somehow everything got back to place and things happened on time.
After a job well done, what will I do to celebrate?
I have always believed in celebrating all milestones of life whether they are major or minor, they do need a celebration. Whenever a job is well done, me and hubby would like to celebrate it with a nice cozy dinner.
I do celebrate a lot of occasions with my family and friends but when it comes to achieving goals and celebrating them then it's just between the two of us or sometimes even my Son will join if he is around with us. If the accomplishment is very big then we celebrate it with a mini vacation to some resort or nearby location.
