It has been common that some people who have always been deprived of money, if they suddenly get a fortune, it becomes difficult for them to handle. There have been so many lottery winner cases who had nothing, won a fortune and lost all of it, just because they did not know how to use that money. Spending and Using money are 2 different things. You can spend money on things, some which you may not need, but just because you have got money in your hand, you want to spend and fulfil all the desires.
But using money can mean different, you can use to invest and grow money from money. When one suddenly gets a fortune, they should also be mindful about using it. If abundant money flow is not a regular thing, then it is all the more important to save up on what's come to you one time.
I was watching a documentary on people who won lotteries, how overnight suddenly their life changed from rags to riches. One such person, after getting money he started splurging it on all luxuries of life. In just a couple of years he went bankrupt again. What a fate. Rather than splurging money on things and only creating liability, if he could have made some smart investments with a small start-up, or just made some other fixed investments, he could have multiplied his fortune rather than losing it all.
But yes, mind can go bonkers. There was one stage of life for me where I was also careless with money and spent as if there is no tomorrow. Thank God I got my sense sooner and changed my habits, else I would have still been struggling with my finances.
