Over the years I have seen myself change in almost every area of life. Majorly it sums up to me being a person was ready to take all types of risk at one stage of life to becoming a person who does not want to take any risk at this stage if life. You can say that my relationship with risk has drastically changed over the years. My father was a person like what I am right now, not taking any risk, and I always would feel why can't he take a little risk in life if the returns are big. That time I did not understand but now I do.
To me his behavior of being cautious felt like his fear. Now I understand that why he wanted to play safe. It was only one paycheck in the family and too many responsibilities so I am sure he was not in a place to take risk.
I feel that along with responsibilities, age also plays a big role in this behaviour change. When we are young, we are ready to take risk, we want to achieve more things in short time but as we age this mentality change, we know that we have less time at hand so taking risk is not a very wise thing, especially with finance.
How different stages of life affect us mentally. Our thought process changes, our habits, behaviour, everything changes with time. With age we get wisdom of knowing which season we are in. There’s a time to leap, and a time to make sure the net is there before we jump. I am at that stage where I need my net all the time.
