“La dama del ocaso” del escritor Enrique Pérez Díaz , publicada por la Editorial Gente Nueva en el 2008 es la propuesta del día de hoy. Este escritor nació en La Habana, Cuba, el 11 de abril de 1958. Es un cuentista, novelista, periodista, editor, crítico literario, poeta e investigador.
"La Dama del Ocaso" narra una historia agradable y entretenida que combina una serie de elementos como lo son el amor, el misterio y conflictos muy comparables con la vida cotidiana. La trama se centra en una historia de amor que se extiende "más allá del tiempo y la distancia", destacando cómo el amor logra unir a los enamorados. La obra usa a sus personajes para reflexionar sobre la vida como un regalo, la necesidad de enfrentar lo novedoso cada día y la importancia de sonreír a pesar de las adversidades. El libro juega constantemente con la línea entre lo real y lo imaginario, sugiriendo que "hay tanta realidad en lo fantástico y tanto de lo fantástico recorre la realidad". Este recurso hace que los personajes, invadidos por la imaginación, resulten más "creíbles".

Una tarde en la playa, descubren una mujer que curiosamente, se sentaba en la arena, mirando fijo el horizonte como quien espera a alguien, justo siempre a la misma hora, el ocaso, cuando el sol regalaba sus últimos rayos de luz. Este suceso ocurría todos los días, los muchachos curiosos al fin deciden seguirla un día hasta una pequeña casa, allí descubren que la espera tarde por tarde frente al mar, era por su amado, el cual había partido en una embarcación hacía ya muchos años, y luego de un mal tiempo jamás regresó, pero aquella singular dama no perdía la fe y la esperanza de que el horizonte le trajera de vuelta a su prometido. Por último estos descubren que ellos son fruto de ese amor, por lo que la mujer a la que tanto habían observado era su verdadera madre y su tía era su abuela. Descubrimiento que hasta el final de la obra no se conoce, y a mi en lo particular me llenó de asombro y alegría por ser tan inesperado pero a la vez grato este gran final.
