From Pharmacist to Journalist to Teacher: The career Journey I never Planned.

Good morning my quintessential ladies of hive community; here's my entry to the LOH community contest # 302. The question is; "What was your dream job as a kid -versus-what job do you have today'?

When I was a little girl, I had a dream.
I wanted to become a pharmacist.

I imagined myself wearing that white coat, working with medicines, helping people, and having a career that I could be proud of. At that age, I didn't understand all the things that could stand between a child and her dream. I only knew what I wanted to become.
But as I grew older, reality began to speak louder than the dream.

I didn't have the support I needed from anywhere. Sometimes, having a dream isn't enough. You also need people who believe in you, people who are willing to support you, guide you, and make sacrifices to help you get there.
Without that support, my dream of becoming a pharmacist slowly slipped away.

Then I thought, "Okay, if I can't become a pharmacist, maybe journalism is for me."

I chose Journalism as my next path. I could see myself writing stories, asking questions, meeting people, and telling stories that mattered. I thought this was the career that would finally work out for me.
But somehow, that dream didn't happen either.
Even with that, my parents still wanted me to study a course which they thought is simple and won't spend much money on me during the course of my study. Well,
Life had another plan.

And today, I find myself working as a teacher.

Honestly, becoming a teacher wasn't the childhood dream I had imagined for myself. If someone had told the little girl who wanted to become a pharmacist that she would one day stand in front of a classroom and teach children, she probably wouldn't have believed them.

Yet, here I am.

And I've come to realize that sometimes life doesn't take us to the destination we planned. It takes us through different roads, different experiences, and unexpected turns, until we eventually discover that we are capable of more than we thought.

Being a teacher has taught me patience. It has taught me responsibility. It has challenged me to communicate, understand different personalities, and find creative ways to make someone understand what I'm teaching.

Maybe I didn't become the pharmacist I dreamed of being.

Maybe journalism didn't become my reality either.

But perhaps those dreams were not completely wasted. The desire to help people from pharmacy, and the love for communication and storytelling from journalism, still exist in different ways in who I am today.

And someone might ask, if you have your way, will you still want to become a pharmacist or Journalist? My answer is a Big YES.

Sometimes, the career you end up having isn't the career you dreamed about as a child. And that's okay.

Life changes. Circumstances change. We change.

What matters is that we continue moving forward and making something meaningful out of the path we eventually find ourselves.

Thanks for stopping by.

Seem like your dreams somehow follows you in your current profession job as a teacher and you took the best things with you from each dream and grew into the person you are today 🩷

I am a preeschool teacher and I can relate to alot you say about patience and communicate, this job changes you and I grown alot during my years in teaching.

Dreams never dies but changes, and in a way we take some parts of it with us in the work we do today.

Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful weekend. Cheers 🌹

Thank you so much!
I completely agree. Dreams may change, but they never truly leave us we carry pieces of them into who we become. Teaching has definitely taught me patience, empathy and better communication too. It’s lovely to connect with someone who understands that journey. ❤️
