The saying that dogs are man’s best friend isn't just mere words, it's the best way to describe what's like to have a dog as a pet, the bond between humans and these amazing animals. Dogs are faithful, honest, and loyal. They greet you with genuine joy, especially when they wag their tail and put their tongue out in excitement at seeing you, they stand by you in times of need, and often understand your emotions without a single word being spoken. Dogs can be playful and affectionate, and at the same time, they are deeply sensitive creatures, capable of sensing when you are happy, sad, or unwell. For many people, a dog is not just a pet, but a devoted friend and an irreplaceable member of the family.
Growing up, we had a dog named Arrow. In our home, we didn’t see him as just a pet, he was a member of our family ,sounds funny right? 😊. His stay with us wasn't long but impactful. He was a loyal buddy, tough and strong, and because of him, strangers or thieves couldn’t come close to our gate. Everyone knew he wouldn’t back down until he was sure the environment was clear and safe. He was very sensitive to strangers and extremely protective. He was my best friend back then , we could have a conversation without him uttering a word, yet I knew he understood.
One Sunday morning, as we were rushing to go to church, we forgot to feed him. When we drove out, we didn’t realize that the dog had followed us. While he was following us, he was hit by a car. It was a sad experience for all of us . We mourned him deeply, and since then, we haven’t been able to replace him with another dog. Even though someone gave us another one, the bond we had with Arrow didn’t allow us to accept the new dog. I wish i have pictures of him but then it was the era of basic phones, no smartphones. The camera we had then the memory card got corrupted by virus.
If I’m to have a pet again, it will definitely be a dog.
