Children of the Flames

On any given day that the sun rises in the East and sets in the West,

The fire burns bright
in the Children of the Flames
for it blinds and shields them from the truth.

The fire encompasses fully
in the Children of the Flames
for they will never escape its scathing wrath.

The fire ravishes already scarce resources
from the Children of the Flames
for they have no tools to sow and harvest.

The fire scorches the concrete and dirt of paths
from under the Children of the Flames
for they have no shoes and garments freshly made.

The fire burns, maims, and scars the bodies
of the Children of the Flames
for they have nowhere to run and hide
and no shield from shrapnel and bullets.

The fire rips apart and forever separates the family unit
for the Children of the Flames
scattering them to and fro, unable to reconnect.

The fire drains potential
from the Children of the Flames
for the buildings that house all forms of learning
have been destroyed.

And,

The fire kills millions of innocents
of all dimensions and hues
from the Children of the Flames
in its quest for unbridled power and dominance.

Fire, don't you hear the anguish in their cries
and see the suffering on their faces?

Alas, Children of the Flames
have no alternative other than to embrace it or else perish.

For my current mixed media art project, I didn't have a theme or the words of my poem until I discovered an image that melted my resolve. The eyes of the young girl told me of her suffering. She allowed me to see inside what she witnesses each day. She poured our her heart and made me understand that the outside shell of her skin didn't reflect the inside pain that could be cast upon others whose skin was of another color but endured the same plight. for war sees no color and is apathetic.

Below are my steps in designing the children of the fire. In my design program, Canva, I uploaded all images and blended them the tools afforded me in the program. I share my procedures which began with a blank, white canvas.

An combination of pure fractals created by me in the advanced fractal rendering program Apophysis 7X and free-sourced images blended to create the backdrop for the fire theme.

Abstract brown diagonals ~ Abstract yellow and peach shape ~ Female with flaming leaves in hair ~ Abstract gray geometric lines ~ Abstract pink shape ~ Pure Fractal titled "Dragon Fire - No. 2" ~ Pure Fractal titled "Circle of Fire" ~ Pure Fractal titled "Fire Dripping"

The girl's gaze is sad but strong, and your poem is a beautiful tribute to those who suffer under the flames, who have no other choice and who find themselves caught up in conflict. The design expresses the pain of the situation and perhaps a glimmer of hope. Thank you so much for your work, it's beautiful!💗

Unfortunate circumstances for children in war-torn regions around the world. When I think of children, I'm reminded of the adage that they are our future. I glimpse into a time we will never see. Why then do we treat them as though they are of no consequence? I'll never understand this.

I appreciate you taking time to stop by and view my design and am pleased you liked the theme. Thanks for your support as always. Take care.

There are many contradictions in life, and this is one of them. What is said seems to be just words, but in reality, things are different.

It is always a pleasure!

A beautiful poem, in a way I see a blend.. children with the youthfulness have a fire in them. A fire so strong, but if there's one thing I've seen in life is that a lot of fire has been turned off by storms of life. But this truly is a powerful poem

On that point you are correct @princessluv in that children are resilient. However, at some point they become disheartened due to no fault of their own. Adult decision can wreck havoc on their lives, and they have no resources of their own to solve the problem and no one to turn to.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate it and your insight. Take care.

That is so true

This is the most terrifying, thought-provoking piece of interdisciplinary art I've seen for a long, long time... and so true.

Yes, the thought of children suffering under the burden of war is terrifying. For the individuals not involved in making decisions to create the situations, it does give one pause.

Thanks for your visit and insight. I appreciate it. Take care.

When I pray for certain nations, knowing that there are some adults who have chosen their damnation, I often let the Lord know that I remember what He did in sparing Nineveh, in which there were 120,000 souls who did not know their right hand from their left -- very little children, about whom He said "I HAVE 120,000 souls" ... only He can put out these fires, because warmongers and profiteers do not care about children.

You really make beautiful pictures, I like that she has feathers for hair! She has the fire in her mind, what she is passionate about! A beautiful poem!

I really appreciate your visit and kind compliment for my design. Yes, the feather in her hair with fire embedded makes for a striking image. Children are resilient; however, the strains of war for which they don't understand can take a deadly toll.

Thanks for your support. I appreciate it. Take care.

Children who are involved in wrongdoings, in their youth, parents work hard for them and tell them the truth so that their future life can be easier for them.

That is true @djbravo. But sometimes tragedies happen to children beyond their control. This is true especially when they are caught up in adult conflicts and behaviors they know nothing about.

Thanks so much for your visit. I appreciate it. Take care.
