Bird-Chirping Spring Season

in Feathered Friends18 days ago (edited)

Birds in song a sign of hope

How often do you meander outdoors with chirping birds deep in the bush, or swallow flying low overhead a sign here the rain must be coming again.

Life is a full orchestra with sound all around, look and listen some you identify immediately others not familiar. Dusk and dawn slightly different notes heard from trees, occasionally a series of short, sharp notes that increase in pitch, creating a lingering, melodious sound of the Yellow-billed kite above.

As the sun crosses the sky offering more daylight hours to the day, instinctively birds are busy organizing themselves to create a new generation. Males busy growing longer tail in some such as our pin-tailed whydah who is back in top form once again.

Certain times during the day he appears to be attacking the window, this display I am sure is when he sees himself not wishing for competition around the feeder is in fact chasing himself away from mirror affect lighting. Will try through the window to capture attack from inside soon.

Black-and-white Mannikin (Spermestes bicolor) - Red-backed new arrival had a fleeting visit, not seen them since, what a pleasure to know they too are around.

Small, big-billed, short-tailed waxbill. Shows profound geographical variation: a rufous back in southeastern Africa, and a black back in central and western Africa. Black-backed birds vary from having white barring on the wings and tail to having completely black wings and tail. Juveniles are very drab and brown but can usually be identified by their association with adults. Found in forest, moist woodland, and gardens, often in patches of seeding grass. Usually in small flocks. Call is a descending 'teew'. Source

Similar to Bronze Mannikin but has an all-blue bill and never shows a brown back.

Trees fills up with a variety of birds that fly low overhead to let you know they are waiting for more seed, fly in food on demand, sitting together the sparrow and weaver.

When chirping becomes a crescendo in sound when they patiently waiting, or move into thick bush contented after meal with water close to hand. Happy gardens make happier gardeners!

Mostly filled here with southern masked weaver, obviously their time of day swooping in together.

Quite the variety of chirping fellows!

They sure do let you know, especially when late with their seed. Thanks for visiting.

I do love seeing different types of birds together. These are all great Joan and I love that long tail of the male pin-tailed whydah
!BEER

"Cheeky" is in top form chasing everything that moves, entertainment for coming months, he is a busy chap. !LOLZ

Hehe he sounds a fun fellow!

Like a crazy Scot with a breeze up his kilt letting the world know he is the man!

Hehe guilty 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cannot believe people no longer tease each other as we did, lost sense of humour.

We can't do anything now without you being reported to the police! Luckily where Mrs T works is almost all Scottish and they tease her for being American but she gives as good as she gets. If that was in England they would all be arrested, it really has become a cesspit of a country with this ideology.

Never lose the spirit, change will come. Weird times we going through, so be it still see the bright side.

I really love listening to birdsong, which is why I love spring so much, when birds return from their wintering grounds and begin their mating season.

Great photos! These are very unusual birds for me.

When the weavers gather they have such an unusual sound, electric with various tones. My area has too much noise pollution so here are some of the calls captured. Weaver Calls

Thanks feathered friends.

You have so many colorful birds to watch and listen too. I love the one that attacks the window. We have a male Cardinal that does the same to protect his domain. Too Funny!

Noticed there are two males again this year, it sure is going to be busy.
