Splinterlands: First time seeing the Pandamonium Ruleset

in Splinterlands19 days ago

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I saw a battle where I saw a new rulset.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Melee Mayhem and Pandamonium. This means the lineup is randomly scrambled, and melee monsters can attack from any position. There is also 29 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for fire, or earth.

It's my first time seeing Pandamonium as a ruleset, and it makes things interesting. I think luck will be a huge factor because you can't control your lineup anymore.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Marlai Singariel6Summoner+1 Magic
Water-Logged Wizard61st
Asel Alagosdil42ndDivine Shield
Spellmonger43rdThorns
Mystic Scaleweaver94thSlow
Total Mana:29

My summoner is Marlai Singariel for the +1 magic. I have four monsters, but the lineup is random. Mystic Scaleweaver has slow, Asel Alagosdil has divine shield, and Spellmonger has thorns.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have a disadvantage. My lineup is quite bad with one of my magic monsters up front while my opponeent has a solid lineup and a level advantage.

Round 4

A few rounds later, I am left with just 1 monster, but my opponent still has both of his magic monsters.

I lost later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did go exactly as planned because of that Pandamonium ruleset and how my lineup ended up. My opponent got lucky with a good lineup, but I got wrecked. It's an interesting ruleset because it relies on quite a bit of luck now. I didn't win the match, but maybe I'll win next time.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Just when I thought we'd finally gotten over the bad decisions of the entire Rebellion era, they hit us with this. My point is simple: they're forcing another completely random battle on you, like the scatter shot ruleset. This means we're potentially going to lose two battles, and therefore lose energy and money, assuming you invest in renting SPS and buying energy. In my opinion, they didn't properly consider the impact two rulesets like this could have on the game. For new players, it will be quite clear: the game will be less fun now. Regards.

I understand, and I also feel the ruleset makes luck a huge factor. It's why I am not a fan of this ruleset either.

I am yet to come up against this ruleset. Definitely an interesting addition to Splinterlands to say the least.

Truth be told your selection affected you a bit.... Saltwater mage and Mystic Scaleweaver of your opponent versus water logged wizard and Mystic Scaleweaver of yours. The former combo, which is your opponent,90% most times carries the day.All the same win or lose we move on.Do have a great day.

True, I use that combination quite often, but my reasoning was that the random lineup would give me a slight advantage using the thorns monster as something that might be put up front.

That ruleset sounds extremely fun, I never experimented it though

Powerful summoner you've got there and those strong magic cards really did some massive damage, especially the last card with that -4 damage

That was my opponent. I lost this match, but I do think that card is quite strong when maxed out.

That ruleset makes building the team more challenging

It is an interesting ruleset in the game, it is basically based on luck for the positioning
