Hello everyone, among the many anime and series I've watched, very few have been mecha-themed, not because I have anything against it, but simply because it hasn't caught my attention. However, back in 2015 I stumbled upon one that, besides grabbing my eye, and even though it wasn't entirely focused on mecha, managed to really captivate me. I even watched both seasons and discovered one of my favorite characters, one I always remember fondly. So, taking advantage of this opportunity, I want to share a little bit about "Infinite Stratos."
Hola a todos, entre la cantidad de animes y series que he podido ver, muy pocos han sido con esta temática meca conocida, no porque tenga algo en contra, sino porque simplemente no ha llamado mi atención. Sin embargo, por allí en el 2015 me topé con uno que, aparte de llamar mi atención y aunque no estuviera completamente centrado en esta característica, logró hacer que me gustara mucho, haciendo que incluso viera las dos temporadas que tiene y que en este encontrara uno de mis personajes favoritos que siempre suelo recordar, así que bueno, aprovechando hoy, quiero compartirles un poco sobre "Infinite Stratos".
A work created by Izuru Yumizuru in 2011, as a collection of light novels with a total of 7 volumes, which were adapted into manga format by Kenji Akahoshi in the magazine Monthly Comic Alive and later that same year, the anime version was released with the direction of Yasuhito Kikuchi and the studio 8-Bit, with a total of 12 episodes and an OVA, and that surprisingly in 2013 a second season was confirmed and aired with the same number of episodes and OVA, having a good reception by the public.
Una obra creada por Izuru Yumizuru en 2011, como una colección de novelas ligeras con un total de 7 volúmenes, los cuales se adaptaron a formato manga por Kenji Akahoshi en la revista Monthly Comic Alive y posteriormente ese mismo año, saliendo la versión anime con la dirección de Yasuhito Kikuchi y el estudio 8-Bit, con un total de 12 episodios y una OVA, y que sorprendentemente en el año 2013 se confirmó y emitió una segunda temporada con la misma cantidad de episodios y OVA, teniendo esta un buen recibimiento por el público.
Entering the plot, we focus on a highly technologically advanced Japan, where, precisely because of this, a next-level armor system called "IS" has been created. This system consists of a multifunctional suit that can be repurposed for attack; however, due to treaty issues, its use is prohibited in combat, resulting in a very small number of units. To avoid problems, its use is relegated to sporting events. However, the peculiarity of these suits is that they can only be used by women, which has led to their ego and presence being prioritized over men's.
Entrando en la trama, nos centramos en un Japón muy tecnológicamente avanzado, donde justamente gracias a esto se ha creado un sistema de armaduras que van a otro nivel llamado "IS", que consta de un traje multifuncional, el cual llega a ser reacondicionado para el ataque; sin embargo, por temas de tratados, estos llegan a ser prohibidos para el combate y ese uso, lo cual pasa a ser una cantidad muy pequeña de unidades, y para evitar problemas, se delega su uso para encuentros deportivos; sin embargo, la peculiaridad de estos trajes es que solo pueden ser utilizados por mujeres, cosa que ha hecho que el ego y presencia se estén manteniendo por encima de los hombres.
The story changes when Ichika, a boy who is the younger brother of the best instructor and pilot of these "IS" suits to have ever existed, arrives at the academy where these suits are trained. This surprises everyone, as he is the only man who can use and pilot these suits. Without further ado, he is sent to the academy to undergo training. However, being surrounded by women, various situations begin to unfold, playing out with our protagonist and the various girls who appear as the chapters progress, as well as the need to prove his talent with his own sister as his instructor.
La historia cambia cuando a la academia donde se manejan estos trajes llega Ichika, un chico, el cual es hermano menor de la mejor instructora y piloto de estos trajes "IS" que ha existido, cosa que sorprende a todos, ya que es el único hombre que puede usar y pilotar estos equipos, por lo que sin más es enviado a la academia a que se someta a entrenamiento, pero al estar rodeado de mujeres, comienzan a pasar diversas situaciones que irán jugando con nuestro prota y las diversas chicas que irán apareciendo a medida que avanzan los capítulos, así como la necesidad de demostrar un talento al ser su propia hermana su instructora.
The thing about this anime is that it plays very well with the plot and balances the harem theme with a touch of comedy; obviously, it has villains and issues related to these outfits; however, it's all explained well, and each character integrates seamlessly, making it feel natural. Likewise, there are typical cliché scenes, such as when a second male student who wears these outfits joins the group and turns out to be a girl pretending to be a boy, as well as other scenes that fit well into the story's progression.
El tema con este anime es que juega muy bien con la trama y equilibra bien el tema haren con un toque de comedia; obviamente tiene temas de villanos y problemas en contra de estos trajes; sin embargo, llega a explicarse bien y cada personaje logra integrarse bien, cosa que no lo hace forzado. Así mismo, tenemos típicas escenas cliché, como por ejemplo cuando se une un segundo estudiante masculino que usa estos trajes y resulta ser una chica que se hacía pasar por chico, como también otras más que se van acoplando a la secuencia de esta historia.
Even so, this anime managed to garner enough attention for a second season, which focuses more on the conflicts, attacks, and sabotage of these suits in the context of war. I appreciated this because, while it does have typical harem moments, it doesn't try to make them the main focus, making it enjoyable. Personally, one of my favorite characters isn't a major plot point, but she has a quirky personality, demonstrating that this anime isn't solely about the main characters.
Aun así, logró este anime ganarse la atención del público para una segunda temporada, la cual se centra más en el tema de conflictos, ataques y sabotajes a estos trajes para lo que es una guerra, lo cual me gustó porque, aunque sí tiene momentos típicos de un harem, no busca que sea el centro de atención, lo cual lo hace disfrutable. Incluso, personalmente, uno de mis personajes favoritos no es tan principal dentro de la trama, pero tiene una forma de ser alocada, cosa que demuestra que este anime no trata de que solamente nos centremos en los protagonistas principales.
The central plot is very good; the harem themes, although cliché, have classic moments like the beach, the tsundere girl, and the one with a bad temper, and others that ensure it's not just action and manages not to exaggerate too much in terms of fiction. Therefore, it's undoubtedly an anime that met expectations in its time, and I personally liked it a lot, so I highly recommend it.
La trama central es muy buena; los temas de harem, aunque sean cliché, tienen momentos clásicos como la playa, la chica tsundere y la que tiene mal carácter y otros más que aportan que no sea solo acción y logra no exagerar tanto en lo que es ficción, por lo que es sin duda un anime que en su época logró cumplir las expectativas que había, y personalmente me gustó mucho, por lo que es recomendación total.
