Hello everyone, lovely Holos Lotus community. A few days ago, while watching short videos, I came across one that caught my attention so much that it's still resonating with me. It dramatized the feeling of rushing through everything, mentioning the constant state of alert, as well as the fact that sometimes we need to be more relaxed with the things we do. The funny thing is, while watching this video, I was eating my usual chips, which is something that distracts my mind or even helps me focus (one of my little habits). But the point is, I hadn't realized how fast I usually eat, almost without enjoying it.
And the thing is, this video makes a lot of sense; sometimes we tend to act as if we're constantly on high alert, and personally, there are many things I do so quickly that, while they might seem normal to me, later on, when others are around, we notice how rushed I am or even question why I don't enjoy them afterward. You'll see, for example, that I'm always looking for ways to go for a walk and get some fresh air; however, whenever I do, I often end up sitting somewhere, exhausted or completely out of breath. Sometimes I'm even surprised by how little time it takes me to be outside and back home. The reason for this is that I walk too fast or I'm always so focused on staying centered that I don't take the time to walk calmly and appreciate my surroundings, which is the main goal.

And it's true, it really got me thinking that this could be due to habits or the daily routine that, over time, puts us in that state of constant, unconscious alertness. On the other hand, it's true that in certain places we tend to do things at that speed because of the environment or simply to avoid wasting time. For example, as the video showed, they showed someone brushing their teeth very quickly, and then suddenly, with the message "don't be constantly on alert," they slow down to a more relaxed pace. I experience this to some extent because, even when I'm alone, I feel that need for things to be quick, as if to avoid overdoing it.
The thing is, ever since I saw this video, I've been analyzing these actions, these quick reflexes I recognize, those moments when that alert mode kicks in. It's like it makes me slow down, asking myself, "Why am I rushing?" Or, if it's something I should be enjoying, I pause for a moment to breathe and come back calmly. And, as strange as it may sound, it changes everything. Obviously, it also creates that feeling of unease when we do things slowly, but life isn't meant to be rushed, and something as simple as a cup of coffee should be savored slowly, not in two or three quick gulps like I used to do. Something I've noticed and set as a goal is to avoid feeling that nervousness when that alert mode appears.

Because when I'm like this, it's like a little nervous feeling that comes on its own, and in the long run, I feel like it's bad for me. Therefore, as I mentioned at the beginning, this idea of doing things more calmly and slowing down those hurried habits that made me feel like everything was flying by has been helping me reprogram some things within myself. Of course, I know it's also a two-way street between being rushed and leaving everything to the last minute or even procrastinating, but I try as much as possible to find a middle ground and a fair balance.
So, I hope I've made myself clear with this reflection and that you enjoy it. Thank you very much for reading.
