If you are a fan of culture, design and architecture of buildings; it is a pleasure to share with you one of the most emblematic architectural icons of Havana, Cuba as "El Capitolio". Likewise, it is named by some experts as one of the six most important palaces in the world.
Today, as part of the #monomad contest of @monochromes and @brumest, I will give you my experience in the majestic building.

Si eres un fan de la cultura, diseño y arquitectura de edificios; es un placer compartir con ustedes uno de los iconos arquitectónicos más emblemáticos de La Habana, Cuba pues "El Capitolio". Así mismo, aparece nombrado por algunos expertos como uno de los seis palacios de mayor relevancia a nivel mundial.
El día de hoy como participación en el concurso #monomad de @monochromes y @brumest, les daré mi experiencia en el majestuoso inmueble.
To tell you a little of its history we can start with its construction, on May 20, 1929, which lasted only 3 years. Being one of the most significant works of the early twentieth century on the island.
It is located in Paseo del Prado, next to the Gran Teatro Nacional de La Habana (home of the National Ballet of Cuba). It was inspired by the Capitol of Washington D.C. but with Neoclassical style and eclectic details.
Para hablarles un poco de su historia podemos empezar por su construcción, el 20 de Mayo de 1929 que duró tan solo 3 años. Siendo de las obras más significativas de principios del siglo XX en la isla.
Está ubicado en paseo del prado, al lado del Gran Teatro Nacional de La Habana (hogar del Ballet Nacional de Cuba). Fue inspirado en el Capitolio de Washington D.C. pero con estilo Neoclásico y detalles eclécticos.
Taking a brief tour of its outskirts, I took some pictures of the back that goes especially to the community, as I have always seen that they create content with the front, but never show its surroundings, which are also beautiful and with a beautiful French style garden.
Dando un breve recorrido en sus afueras, pues tome algunas fotográficas de la parte trasera que va especialmente para la comunidad, ya que siempre he visto que crean contenidos con el frente, pero nunca muestran sus alrededores, que también son bellos y con un jardín al estilo francés hermoso.
At the beginning of this adventure inside the impotent building, I will tell you that it has a monumental staircase of 55 steps, which will make you sweat a little as you enter its history 😁👌.
It presents on its sides two large statues, cast in bronze and restored in 2020, resting on both sides of the main entrance (The Guardian Virtue of the People and The Creator Work of the People) both 6.5 meters high.
Al iniciar esta aventura dentro del impotente edificio, les comentaré que cuenta con una escalinata monumental de 55 peldaños, que te harán sudar un poco al adentrarnos a su historia 😁👌.
Presenta a sus lados dos estatuas de gran tamaño, fundidas en bronce y restauradas en el 2020, que descansan a ambos lados de la entrada principal ( La Virtud Tutelar del Pueblo y El Trabajo Creador del Pueblo ) ambas de 6.5 metros de altura.
Already at the beginning you will see three access doors melted in bronze, on which are engraved beautiful decorations of various historical scenes from pre-Columbian times to the inauguration of the Capitol.
Carefully designed, its interior is one of the richest in Cuban architecture with a slight Frenchified air, with its super striking dome of vibrant colors. In its structure, some of its marble is Italian, its lampearías are American and even the locks, keys and hinges reveal the concern for all the details 🤩.
Ya en el comienzo verán tres puertas de acceso derretidas en bronce, en las cuales se encuentran grabadas decoraciones bellísimas de diversas escenas históricas de la época precolombina hasta la inauguración del Capitolio.
Cuidadosamente diseñado, su interior es de los más ricos en la arquitectura cubana con un ligero aire afrancesado, con su cúpula súper llamativa de colores vibrantes. En su estructura algunos de sus mármoles son italianos, su lampearías son norteamericanas y hasta las cerraduras, llaves y bisagras dejan entrever la preocupación por todos los detalles 🤩.

Un espectacular lugar para tomar fotografías impresionantes, súper remendado para los amantes del arte en imagen.
Going into the halls, I present the one that once occupied the House of Representatives of the Republic, is currently a space of regular use for the committees of the National Assembly of People's Power, which corresponds to its institutional headquarters. The place is impeccably maintained in terms of details and care, with a Greco-Roman style and a capacity for 300 people.
Adentrándome a las salas, les presento la que ocupó en su momento la Cámara de Representantes de la República, es actualmente un espacio de uso habitual para las comisiones de la Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular, que corresponde su sede institucional. El lugar se mantiene impecable en cuanto a detalles y cuidados, con un estilo grecorromano y una capacidad para 300 personas.
The atmosphere inside is natural with the division of the rooms sumptuously ornamented, with pure lines and beautiful proportions. Both inside and outside the Capitol, everything is organized with its classic lamps, statues and fertile plants.
The statue we see in the center is named "Angel fallen from the sky" and represents Lucifer, supposedly is in that area because it represents the Rebellion. And it is one of the most beautiful angles to take good pictures.
El ambiente por dentro es natural con la división de las habitaciones suntuosamente ornamentado, de líneas puras y bellas proporciones. Tanto por dentro como a las afueras del Capitolio, está todo organizado con sus lámparas clásicas, estatuas y plantas bien fértiles.
La estatua que vemos al centro es la nombrada "Ángel caído del cielo" y representa a Lucifer, supuestamente está en esa zona porque representa la Rebeldía. Y es uno de los ángulos más bonitos para hacer buenas fotografías.
In the other halls, galleries and spaces there are showcases, sculptures, precious woods, cutlery, glassware and vessels from classical times, with an impeccable condition in each exhibition room.
En las demás salones, galerías y espacios se encuentra vitrinas, esculturas, maderas preciosas, cuberterías, cristalerías y vasijas de épocas clásicas, con un estado intachable en cada sala expositiva.
Next is the "Guáimaro" Hall, which has a room dedicated to the history of the Cuban patriotic symbols: the lone star flag, the coat of arms and the national anthem, also called "Himno de Bayamo" (Bayamo Anthem). A unique opportunity to know and understand the origin of these representations.
A continuación el Salón "Guáimaro", que cuenta con una habitación dedicada a la historia de los símbolos patrios cubanos: la bandera de la estrella solitaria, el escudo y el himno nacional, también llamado «Himno de Bayamo». Una oportunidad inigualable para conocer y entender el origen de estas representaciones.
Upon completion, the first impact that impressed at the entrance was a bronze sculpture of 16 meters high, including its massive pedestal of ancient Egyptian onyx marble and laminated in 22 carat gold, named "The Republic" with a weight of 30 tons 😱. It is recognized as the third tallest indoor in the world.
A beautiful woman's face very similar to a Greek goddess along with a sculptural Creole body, is accompanied by a spear and a shield with the Cuban symbol, and seems ready to defend with courageous authority, wisdom and vigilance, the peace and serenity of a people.
Al concluir, el primer impacto que impresionó en la entrada fue una escultura en bronce de 16 metros de altura, incluyendo su macizó pedestal de mármol ónix antiguo egipcio y laminada en oro de 22 kilates, nombrada "La República" con un pesaje de 30 toneladas 😱. Está reconocida como la tercera bajo techo más alta del mundo.
Un hermoso rostro de mujer muy semejante a una diosa griega junto con un cuerpo escultural criollo, viene acompañado de una lanza y un escudo con el símbolo cubano, y parece dispuesta a defender con valiente autoridad, sabiduría y vigilia, la paz y
serenidad de un pueblo.
If you have the opportunity, I recommend you to visit it, possibly the most colorful place in our country, open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday where the first tour starts at 10:00 am 😉😊.
