I think the question @trucklife-family asked us this week (#263) in the community contest is impossible to answer, since, in my opinion, all the advice we give our children is the best advice.
However, if I had to choose just one piece of advice that encompassed them all, I think it would be: be good people and useful to society.
Nobody wants a useless person. And I don't mean someone stupid or with cognitive deficiencies. I'm referring to people who are useless to everyone, and therefore, to society. Those people who, rather than helping, are a hindrance, creating all kinds of problems.
If in a relationship, one of the two has to carry the entire burden of the house, raising the children, and everything else, that relationship won't go anywhere, right? The same thing happens in professional relationships. No one will do your job or solve all the problems you create.
Anyone who is useless ends up being a burden, a weight on others; and nobody wants that in their life.
Just as nobody wants bad people. Good people are those you want by your side, those you can always count on, the hardworking, responsible, respectful, and studious ones.
That's the kind of person everyone wants and what we raise our children to be.
As parents, we always raise them to be the best and to deserve everything in life. Unfortunately, they aren't always the best at everything, and to deserve anything, you have to earn it.
For that, they have to work hard and strive. But even if they aren't the best at everything and are good people, that's a good thing. Nobody is good at everything, let's not kid ourselves. But if you're a good person, believe me, that's much better than being the best at everything, because you're the best at the only thing that truly matters in life.

Me parece que la pregunta que @trucklife-family nos hizo esta semana #263 en el concurso de la comunidad, es imposible de responder, ya que, en mi opinión, todos los consejos que les damos a nuestros hijos, son los mejores consejos.
Sin embargo, si tuviera que elegir uno solo que los reuniera a todos, creo que sería: sean personas de bien y útiles para la sociedad.
Nadie quiere a un inútil. Y no me refiero a alguien tonto o con deficiencias cognitivas. Me refiero a las personas que no les son útiles a nadie, y por ende, a la sociedad. Esas personas que más que ayudar, son un estorbo, creadores de problemas de todo tipo.
Si en una relación de pareja, uno de los dos es el que tiene que cargar con todo el peso de la casa, la crianza de los hijos y demás, esa relación no llegará a ningún lado ¿o me equivoco? Lo mismo sucede con las relaciones profesionales. Nadie hará tu trabajo ni solucionará todos los problemas que crees.
El que no sea útil para nada, termina siendo una carga, un peso para otros; y nadie quiere eso en su vida.
Del mismo modo que nadie quiere a las malas personas. Las buenas personas son esas que tú quieres a tu lado, con las que puedes contar siempre, las trabajadoras, las responsables, respetuosas, estudiosas.
Ese es el tipo de persona que todos quieren y para lo que criamos a nuestros hijos.
Como padres, siempre los criamos para que sean los mejores y se merezcan todo en la vida. Desgraciadamente no siempre son los mejores en todo y para merecerse cualquier cosa, hay que ganárselas.
Para eso deben trabajar mucho y esforzarse. Pero, incluso, si no son los mejores en todo y son buenas personas, es algo bueno. Nadie es bueno en todo, no nos engañemos. Pero si eres buena personas, créeme, que es algo mucho mejor que ser el mejor en todo, ya que eres el mejor en lo único que realmente importa en la vida.
