Some trails are once heavily used and then become obscured by urban modernization. The Surkanda Devi temple, built in a new style on the mountain, has caused people to forget the older, smaller temple. These trails were once thronged with devotees, but now hardly anyone visits.
They have become haunted trails, with no one coming or going. So, I and my friend decided to visit the old temple located above Sunset Point. Believe me, Sunset Point is only two kilometers away, and a fair number of people visit it every evening, while no one ever visits this side.
After parking our scooter at Sunset Point, my friend and I access these lost trails and find our way through the bushes to reach the temple. It's sunset, and nature is shrouded in a yellow-pink glow.
We sit here for an hour, click a few photos, and after praying with folded hands in front of the temple, begin our descent. While descending, the only thought is that I will come again soon and spend many hours here.

कुछ राहें कभी बहुत इस्तेमाल होती हैं और फिर शहरी आधुनिकरण के कारण गुमनाम हो जाती हैं. सुरकंडा देवी का मंदिर जो पहाड़ पर नए स्टाइल से बना तो लोगों से पुराने और छोटे मंदिर को भूल गए. कभी ये ट्रेल्स श्रद्धालुओं से भरी रहती थी और अब ये ट्रेल्स पर मुश्किल ही कोई आता है.
भुतिया रस्ते हो गए हैं, न कोई आता न कोई जाता. तो मैंने फैसला किया अपने दोस्त के साथ मिलकर कि चलो पुराने मंदिर जायेंगे जोकि सनसेट पॉइंट के ऊपर स्थित है. यकीं मानोगे सनसेट पॉइंट यहाँ से सिर्फ डेड किमी दूर है, वहां हर शाम लोग ठीक-ठाक मात्र में आते हैं जबकि कोई इस साइड कभी नहीं आता.
सनसेट पॉइंट पर अपने स्कूटर को पार्क करके मैं और मेरा दोस्त इन खोयी हुई ट्रेल्स पर पहुँच जाते हैं और झाड़ियों के बीच रास्ता ढूंढते हुए मंदिर तक पहुँचते हैं. यहाँ सनसेट हो रहा है और कुदरत पीली-गुलाबी रौशनी में लिपटी दिखाई दे रही है.
हम यहाँ एक घंटा बैठते हैं, कुछ फ़ोटोज़ क्लिक करते हैं और मंदिर के सामने हाथ जोड़कर आशीर्वाद ग्रहण करके नीचे उतरने लगते हैं. उतरते हुए एक ही ख्याल है कि जल्दी ही फिर से आएंगे और यहाँ कई घंटे बिताएंगे.
