Why does New Mother Still Have a Big Belly After Birth? my dear sister do not let anyone pressure you, because all of them are not doctors or midwives that knows exactly what pregnancy and after childbirth is all about.
A woman had just given birth to her first baby girl. People come to visit, and instead of congratulating her, some whispered:
- " Why is her stomach still big?"
- " Did she not tie her belly?"
- " Is she pregnant again?"
The woman would just smil but inside her heart, those words hurt. What they didn't know was that, "Medically", after delivery, the uterus doesn't shrink immediately. It literally takes 6 - 8 weeks for it to return to its normal size. The muscles that carried the baby for nine months are still soft, stretched, and healing. And the body? is still holding extra fluid, blood volume, and hormones.
So that "big belly" they were judging? Was simply a normal healing uterus, a body that had worked day and night to grow a human being.
The chief nurse i worked with explained gently:
"A woman's belly isn't big because of anything you did wrong, it is at that point that the body is recovering. Just give it time, give yourself grace. You will heal!.."
A woman who heard those words, For the first time since delivery, breathed deeply. She placed her hand on her tummy and said;
" Thank you for carrying my baby. Heal at your own pace."
***Hopefully you have learnt something from my teachings, my wonderful birthed mothers.❤❣
