Today I'd like to share more photos from the last exhibition I visited and tell you the story of this exhibition, or my experience to be more precise.
As I mentioned in my previous post, this time (a rare occasion) I had the pleasure to meet the artist in person and have a talk with him. It doesn't happen every day as even if you go to the opening, there are so many people (100 times more important than you), that you're lucky if you can greet and congratulate the artist. This time there was only the two of us, so he was kind of bored and very frustrated as well, so I got his full attention.
The reason he was frustrated was ... most likely you can guess ... lack of visitors and I can understand that. However, knowing what he didn't, or he did not consider, there's not much to do or expect. The gallery is open between 10am and 3pm, which is basically hours overlapped by office hours, only a few have time to visit. It is a logical explanation, which however, does not make things better.
Anyway, during the conversation, he told me something, that shocked me to be honest. He said you don't have to have talent to be a successful artist and he didn't mean throwing a bucket of paint on a canvas or on the wall. He said he tutored a full class of students (not artists), so they can apply to art university and most of them were accepted. This means with the right help and a lot of dedication, you can achieve things you've never thought you could.
We're lucky today and have a huge advantage compared to a few decades ago. There's internet, there are online video sharing platforms, full of exceptional free content, so I guess if you want, you really can achieve something through practice.
Another interesting thing happened. Mr. Simion Moldovan gifted me a leaflet of the exhibition, signed in front of me. This is my first autograph from the art world and I'm glad I got it, but the most amazing thing is, how he signed it. He took a ballpoint pen in his right hand and signed his name from right to left. We usually write from left to right, no matter what hand you're using and writing from right to left is usually common in the Arabic and Hebrew world. He knew I'm going to notice, so he told my why. He said he painted a painting on glass a few years ago and had to sign it on the back of the glass, thus from right to left and since then, this is how he signs his name. (The dirt on the paper has not happened in my care.) I've never seen anyone sign their name like this.

It's a head, but not just any head. It's an unusual one, like in a sci-fi movie and I suppose there's a deep explanation as to why that head is so unusual and colorful.
This was a very good one, although strange. Usually the beauty of a statue is admired from the outside and it is meant like that, but not here. Here the meaning and the focus is on the inside.
There are religious scenes painting in the cavity of the body and I could not see a better illustration of spirituality. Your religious believes take place in your head and heart, if I could say that and this is a very original way to show it.

Here I had to have a closer look from every angle. At first, I thought it's a head on a neck (what a coincidence, right? 😄), which in the end it is, but not as you would think. The head is right, but what you think is a neck, it's basically comes out of the forehead, so it's not a neck. Tell me what it is.
