Fungi Friday: Finding Fungi Again

in FungiFridaylast month

I hadn't seen any fungi for a while, so it was a nice surprise to come across them again on a recent walk. Some were quite large and stood out straight away against the trees. The hoof fungus was especially good. It was very woody and hard to the touch, almost looking as though it was part of the tree.

Later on, I spotted some small turkey tails growing on a tree trunk. They looked like tiny fans arranged in rows, with colours of brown, grey, and cream. They were much smaller than the hoof fungus, but I still found them interesting because of their colours and patterns.

This one was hanging down, in a bell like shape on a fallen tree. It was quite large as well.

I also noticed a few other fungi along the way, growing from old wood and tree trunks.

Just as I was approaching home, I spotted a group of little ones. Sadly, most of them had been knocked over. All the fungi added a bit of interest to the walk. There are not usually many at this time of the year, so it was good to come across them again.
