It was getting warm outside, but thankfully, not as hot as the last few days.

I went for a walk in the woods and the overhead branches of the trees made it dark and cool. It was nice to get some shade from the sun.

Some rowan leaves were turning yellow while others remained green. You could see tiny holes where bugs had been eating them.

I found some dark, ripe blackberries growing next to the purple heather. I hardly ever see anyone picking fruit these days. The heather is faring better here than on the moors.

This plant is called Rosebay Willowherb (also known as Fireweed). When the pink flowers fade, its long seed pods split open and release lots of tiny, fluffy white seeds. The wind carries them far away, just like a dandelion.

The best part was finding a single bright red raspberry hiding on a branch. It was a pity there weren't any more. I could have put them in my yoghurt when I got home.

I liked seeing all the bendy beech trees.

A green veined butterfly even landed on the buddleia bush for a short while. It was a simple, peaceful walk.
