A few days ago, very early in the morning, while I was watering the plants, I found a small butterfly fluttering between the grass and a bougainvillea plant.
Hace días, muy temprano, mientras regaba las plantas, encontré una mariposa pequeña que revoloteaba entre el césped y una planta de trinitaria.
I tried to track it and, upon closer inspection, discovered that, although it appeared white, it actually had black stripes on its wings.
Intenté hacerle seguimiento y, al verla de cerca, descubrí que, aunque parecía blanca, en realidad tenía rayas negras en sus alas.
Something else that I found peculiar about it was the presence of extensions on the edge of the rear wings that seemed to imitate antennae.

It took me a while to realize that his real head wasn't on that side.

It belongs to the Lycaenidae family and lives in the Neotropical region. Its larvae feed on solanaceous plants, and as adults they prefer flower nectar, especially that of Stachytarpheta cayennensis, a wild plant that inhabits disturbed soils and tends to become invasive.
Pertenece a la familia lycaenidae y vive en la región neotropical. Sus larvas se alimentan de solanaceas y de adultos prefieren nectar de flores, especialmente la Stachytarpheta cayennensis o "falsa verbena", planta silvestre que habita en suelos perturbados y que tiende a volverse invasora.
