The Carrot Eating Contest was meant to encourage healthy eating habits among the preschoolers. What the brand new teacher hadn't accounted for was the sheer volume of competitiveness you could fit into those tiny bodies.
One little boy was on his 45th baby carrot with no signs of stopping while the twins were bawling at the top of their lungs with near identical hills of thrown up baby carrots in front of them, some barely chewed. They had reached their 30th and 31st carrot before erupting.
Among the less competitive contestants, there were carrots in nostrils, carrots covered in ear wax, carrots in armpits…it was chaos. The children decided they wanted the contest every day and the teacher vowed never to touch another carrot in life again.
Too much of a good thing? Probably, but I'm sure the teacher meant well...
