This is Mount Agung, the biggest volcano here in Bali. She is so beautiful and majestic, standing tall and strong. And we can enjoy her posture, from the fertile rice field at her feet, which is there because of her blessing.
When I was a kid, I hardly noticed her, as maybe I was too small to understand everything, and during my younger years, I had been mostly away from her, working in the other side of the island, which offered more hope from the Tourism industry.
But now in my 30's, I am back to appreciate her beauty and her blessing for the fertile land.
Almost most of the day, on a clear day or on an overcast day, she offers me a spectacular view of her and the clouds around her, which is always different every day.
The other thing that makes me grateful for her calm state is that I had seen her wrath in 2017, when she showed us her destructive power. Yep, she was awakened, and sent fear all across the area when she was erupted. Somehow, she woke up in the middle of her 100-year cycle.
So many geologists predicted that she would erupt big time, but then somehow she slowed down and finally calmed down after a few months and went back to her sleep state. Now everything is back to normal, and we can appreciate her beauty, but as a person who lives solely from her mercy, I have to always remember to not take it for granted, as she can decide to wake up and take everything back. something that most of the active majestic volcanoes do.
