There’s no doubt in my mind that content creation will remain a hobby I continue for years to come. It’s something I’ve been passionate about for the past decade, ever since I ventured into the social media space. My journey began with mainstream Web2 apps and eventually transitioned to decentralized platforms like Hive. Looking back, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’ve come to realize just how impactful it has been, not only in shaping my social media experience but also in influencing my financial journey.
Never before have I invested this much time, energy, and even my own money into the digital world. Being both a creator and an investor on Hive has become a significant part of my daily life—something I can’t imagine giving up, even in the face of uncertainties surrounding the platform. I’ve never been this focused on any other hobby. Typically, I lose interest in hobbies after a year or two, but this time, it’s different.
Next month, I’ll be celebrating my fifth year on Hive!

That’s a long time in the world of blockchain and crypto, and I consider it a personal achievement. Over the years, I’ve explored other Web3 projects, but Hive continues to feel like home. It’s the sense of community that makes this platform special—a place where creators can truly thrive.
Whenever I come across an introduction post from a newly onboarded user, I can’t help but wonder about their motivation for joining the platform. What drives them to stay active and pursue long-term goals here? Is it the rewards? Or is it the desire to connect with others in the community? Are they here to share their own content, or to learn and gain insights by consuming others’ content?
For many, the initial motivation is likely the potential to earn rewards—after all, the idea of making money from posting content is enticing. But what else sustains that drive? What keeps us creating, even when the financial returns aren’t as strong as we’d hoped?
Everyone has their own reasons for being on the platform, and discovering that “why” is essential. That reason becomes the fuel to keep going on this journey you’ve chosen. Without it, it’s easy to find yourself stuck in a creative block. I believe this happens to all of us at some point, making us feel the need to pause our activities on the platform.
It’s okay to take breaks occasionally, but for me, restarting can be challenging. Once you pause, it takes time to reconnect with the community and rebuild the momentum you once had.

When I restarted my journey a year ago, I set a firm goal to keep going, no matter the circumstances in my personal life or the overall crypto market. I noticed that some users tend to go inactive during bear markets, only to reappear when prices rise again.
While that approach works for some, it may not be ideal. When you take a break, the rest of the community, especially curators, will move on to support users who remain active despite market conditions. That’s the reality of life on Hive—opportunities go to those who seek them consistently.
This principle keeps me motivated, even when I feel like taking a step back. It might sound like I’m putting pressure on myself, but it works for me because I know no one else can push me forward. Joining Hive isn’t like signing up for a gym, where a trainer motivates you to reach your goals. It’s a self-driven journey. You set your own path and decide what you want to achieve.
If you’ve committed to this journey, you need to make it work until it becomes a habit—until maintaining momentum feels natural.
I once watched an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, where Joe’s guest, David Choe, praised him for his incredible consistency in producing episodes. Choe called Rogan an “alien” for being able to maintain such a rigorous routine—always online, always updating his content across platforms.
Rogan responded by saying he wasn’t special, but his “special ability” was staying focused on his goals and producing quality results. At the time, the JRE podcast had surpassed 2,200 episodes, with each one lasting around 2.5 to 3 hours. That’s thousands of hours of conversations, interviews, and exchanging insights—a staggering achievement.
It made me wonder how he sustained his motivation through such an intense schedule of preparation, recording, editing, and publishing across multiple platforms.
What I’ve learned is that you have to genuinely love what you do to maintain that kind of momentum, no matter what life throws at you. You need unwavering focus on your goals, blocking out distractions and pushing through challenges until you achieve what you set out to do. It takes an “alien-like” level of dedication to stay motivated and use that energy as fuel to keep moving forward in your journey.
Consistency and passion are the keys to thriving on Hive, especially in a space where your motivation determines your momentum. Staying active and setting clear goals ensures that you build lasting connections and find purpose beyond just rewards. Embracing this mindset transforms the journey into a fulfilling experience, where progress and growth become your ultimate achievements.
