Greetings, Shadow Hunters community! After a long time, I finally managed to convince my nephew to spend a few days at my house. I'm free from my university job, and he's just started his summer vacation. It was quite difficult to convince him, as he spends all his time at a cultural center, where he plays Roblox for endless hours! He's only 13 years old and already knows all the video editing tools, so I'm going to introduce him to Hive soon so he can start growing in the blockchain world by creating gaming content and gradually learn about the potential of Web 3.
He lives in the south of Caracas and spends his time at a cultural arts center where, in addition to playing Roblox, he's taking his first steps in graphic design. Since the location is a large plaza, I assumed it was very likely I'd get some interesting shadows for this SMASH contest round #436. Then, when I arrived, I realized the place was nothing more than the plaza with large metal containers stacked on top of each other, converted into makeshift spaces where these people dedicate themselves to street art, graffiti, and contemporary dance. I must admit it's quite unique, but it gives it a very particular identity. There, I captured this shadow, which is the projection of the railings of these sheds. The contrast was quite striking because it was blazing sun with hardly any clouds, so it was the opportunity I was looking for.

What I liked about this shadow is how long it is. If you've ever seen one of those long containers that are loaded onto huge tankers, you know they're quite long. Since it was already 2 PM, the sun was hitting the container at an angle, so you could see its shadow. I positioned myself almost at the end and took the photo vertically to try to capture the structure's entire shadow. The top part is where they place the Wi-Fi antennas and some solar panels, which is why they have those railings on top. But the most interesting thing was the shadow at the very end of that container. It was the shadow of a spotlight that also had a security camera pointing towards the plaza's parking lot where you leave your cars when you arrive. The thing is, the shadow was so interesting that when I saw the entire structure, the shadow looked like a ship, and the spotlight with the camera looked like a prow mast projecting towards the top of the plaza. And it was definitely this image that I decided to choose as my weekly contribution to this SMASH contest.

I needed to breathe in other environments, and I felt trapped in those labs, unable to do anything else. Apenas tiene 13 años y ya maneja todas las herramientas de edición de video, así que pronto lo voy a introducir en Hive para que empiece a crecer en la blockchain creando contenido gaming y así aprenda poco a poco empapámdose sobre el potencial de la web 3.
El vive al sur de la ciudad de Caracas y se la pasa en un centro de arte cultural donde además de jugar Roblox, esta dando sus primeros pasos en el diseño gráfico. Como el lugar es una gran plaza, presumía que era muy probable conseguir algunas sombras interesantes para este concurso SMASH round #436. Entonces cuando llegué me dí cuenta que el lugar no era más que la plaza con grandes contenedores de metal puestos unos sobre otros convertidos en habitáculos donde estas personas se dedican hacer arte callejero, grafitis y danza contemporánea. Debo reconocer que es algo extraño, pero que le da una identidad muy particular, allí conseguí esta sombra que es la proyección de las barandas de estos galpones, el contraste era bastante marcado y era porque estaba haciendo un sol inclemente con casi ninguna nubosidad, así que era la oportunidad que estaba buscando.

Lo que me gustó de esta sombra es lo extensa que es, si has visto uno de estos largos contenedores que son cargados en enormes tanqueros, sabrás que son bastante largos, como era ya las 2 de la tarde el sol incidía ya de forma inclinada, así que podías ver la proyección de estos contenedores, me ubique casi al extremo y tomé la fotografía verticalmente para tratar de capturar la sombra completa de esta estructura, la parte superior es donde colocan las antenas de wifi y algunos páneles solares, por eso tienen esas barandas en la parte superior. Pero lo más interesante fue la sombra que estaba en el extremo de ese contenedor, era la sombra de un reflector que además tenía una cámara de seguridad de apuntaba hacia el estacionamiento de la plaza donde se dejan los autos cuando llegas. El asunto es que la sombra era tan interesante, que cuando veía la estructura completa, la sombra parecía una embarcación y el reflector con la cámara parecía un mástil de proa que se proyectaba hacia lo más alto de la plaza y fue definitivamente esta imagen la que decidí escoger como mi aporte semanal a este concurso SMASH.
Con esto cierro mi participación amigos, espero que les haya gustado. Particularmente para mi me siento bastante alivia por finalmente salir de las actividades docentes y de investigación, me hacía falta respirar otros ambientes, además que me sentía amarrado en esos laboratorios sin poder hacer nada más.
