Hello! Dear Shadow Hunters community! I hope you're enjoying/resting this weekend. Here in Venezuela, we're celebrating Holy Week, the period of time when Jesus Christ sacrifices himself for our sins. It's a time to visit temples and renew our faith, but these last three days have been cloudy here in Caracas, so I didn't like the shadows I was hunting. The days passed until I saw the notification for the SMASh Contest Round 370.
Friday remained equally cloudy until nightfall. It was then, while I was reading articles, that I saw the shadow cast by one of the cherubs I have in my room. I loved the silhouette it created, and I think it's in tune with these days of religious fervor. This was the reason I titled my entry in this contest "Shadows of a Cherub."

Cherubs have their origins in the Judeo-Christian religion, but a black cherub is an interpretation given to these figures here in Latin America as a result of racial mixing and, consequently, indigenous/African beliefs, giving rise to a syncretism that is now part of our Latin American folklore.

Hola hola! estimada comunidad de Shadow Hunters! Espero que estén disfrutando/descansando este fin de semana, aquí en Venezuela estamos celebrando la Semana Santa, el periodo de tiempo en que Jesucristo se sacrifica por nuestros pecados. Es un momento para visitar los templos y renovar nuestra fé, pero justo estos últimos 3 días han estado nublados aquí en Caracas asi que las sombras que estuve cazando no me gustaron y asi pasaron los días hasta que vi la notificación del SMASh Contest Round 370
El viernes pasó de la misma manera nublado hasta que se hizo de noche, fue entonces, mientras estaba leyendo artículos que vi la sombra que generaba uno de los querubines que tengo en el cuarto, me encanto la silueta que generaba y creo que esta en sintonía con estos días de fervor religioso. Esta fue la razón de titular mi aporte a este concurso como "sombras de un querubín".

Los querubines tienen su origen en la religión judeo/cristiana pero un querubín negro es una interpretación que se les dió a estas figuras aquí en latinoamérica producto del mestizaje de razas y por ende de creencias aborígenes/africanas dando origen a un sincretismo que ya forma parte de nuestro folkclore como latinoamericanos.
