Those split units area lot more energy efficient than some of the other options out there. I know a lot of people are moving to them instead of the window units or even central systems. We recently installed a smart thermostat so we can keep the temp in the house high when we are not home, but then start the house cooling when we are on our way home. Some might argue that takes more energy than keeping it at a lower temp consistently, but I don't know anything about that.
Heard the same thing about the spolit units and keeping thermostats at a constant temp.
My parents have one because they don't have the duct work for central air in their house. It works pretty well. It even has a heat pump so they don't have to use the electric baseboard heat in the winter as much.
I have split units and could not be more satisfied with it.

I don't know if it's true honestly, but to prove it, you need a reliable study.
Funny thing is, some people are keeping temperature during summer at 17°C (62.6°F), and heat the house during winter to 25°C (77°F). Pure madness in my opinion.
That is pretty crazy. We keep our house between 73 and 75 in the summer and around 68 in the winter.
Kind of the same as me. I like to have 77 in the summer, but 68 during winter. I like cooler weather.
