When I was a child, Halloween was the highlight of the year! We would spend the entire month deliberating on our costumes, changing our minds at least 6 times ๐ Our parents were always on top of organizing the groups so we could trick-or-treat with our friends. Every house was decorated with spooky creatures galore. Our evening would begin at 6PM, and we RAN to every house so that no time was wasted! ๐

Today, the season definitely feels a bit different... The houses aren't decorated anymore (and that's largely in part of the communities that inhabit the downtown area). The children go out earlier and return home earlier. Some neighborhoods are completely untouched -- the homeowners decorate and have candy prepared, but no one comes... THEN there is a newfound fear that Halloween in no longer Christian, despite its origins coming from early Irish Christians!
But anyway! Our family and I go out trick-or-treating every year, regardless of what circumstances we face! โ๏ธ Our oldest daughter already knew that she wanted to be a mermaid this year, and our youngest was torn between pumpkin, kitty, or doggy. In the end, she went with the pumpkin! ๐

Before officially going out for Halloween, my husband wanted to take some photos of them as well. We took a quick walk down the trail and tried taking some in the autumn foliage.

Finally, this is all of us while we were trick-or-treating! Unfortunately, my husband and I didn't get dressed up this year, although last year I was a sinister clown ๐คก๐
(Me, an evil clown, and our oldest daughter wanted to be a firefighter ๐ฅน๐จโ๐)
All in all, it went really well! This year was much cooler, so we dressed the girls in layered clothing before putting the costumes on. We went out at about 5:30, probably the first ones on the streets, but it didn't take long for all the other families to come out. It was packed with over 100 kids! ๐ฑ We saw Sonic, Mario and Luigi, Captain Crunch, Scooby Doo, superheros and Disney princesses, and plenty of witches and vampires! And, of course, our girls collected a TON of candy! ๐๐ญ
