A few weeks ago, my friend from work injured his foot in a motorcycle accident. Today I went to Maltepe to visit him and he was very touched to see me. I also felt a little sad when I saw him, but I tried not to show it.
After the visit, I went down to the beach to get some sea air and took a walk.

Birkaç hafta önce işyerinden arkadaşımın motorsiklet kazası sonucu ayağı sakatlanmıştı. Bugün Maltepe'ye kendisini ziyarete gittim. Arkadaşım beni görünce baya duygulandı. Ben de kendisini görünce biraz hüzünlendim ama belli etmemeye çalıştım.
Ziyaretin ardından sahile inerek biraz deniz havası aldım ve yürüyüş yaptım.
Maltepe was one of the districts I had not seen on the Anatolian side. It is not too far from my house in terms of location, but you know Istanbul and traffic conditions.
I went early in the morning to avoid the traffic and since it was the weekend, the roads were almost empty.
The beach is quite wide and there is a long walking path. Many people were walking even though it was early in the morning.
Maltepe, Anadolu yakasında görmediğim ilçelerden birisiydi. Konum olarak evime çok uzak değil ancak mâlum İstanbul ve trafik şartları..
Trafiğe kalmamak için sabahın erken saatlerinde gittim ve hafta sonu olduğu için yollar boş sayılırdı.
Sahil oldukça geniş ve uzun bir yürüyüş yolu var. Birçok insan erken saatler olmasına rağmen yürüyüş yapıyordu.
After walking for about fifteen minutes, I bought tea from a café near the beach. There was a very nice area inside the café. The artificial flowers on the woods, which were almost the same size, offered a visual feast. I watched the sea for a long time and took a breath of fresh air.
Although there was fog over the sea, the islands were visible. I had been to the islands last summer and shared them with you. When the weather gets warmer, my wife and I will go again.
Yaklaşık on beş dakika kadar yürüdükten sonra sahile yakın bir kafeden çay aldım. Kafenin içerisinde çok güzel bir alan vardı. Hemen hemen aynı boyutta olan odunların üzerindeki yapay çiçekler görsel şölen sunuyordu. Çay eşliğinde uzun uzun denizi izleyip, temiz hava aldım.
Denizin üstünde sis olmasına rağmen adalar görünüyordu. Adalara geçtiğimiz yaz gitmiştim ve sizlerle paylaşmıştım. Havalar ısınınca eşimle birlikte tekrardan gideceğiz.
After I finished my tea, I continued my walk and saw a man trying to catch fish. He was sitting on his chair, sipping his tea and at the same time he was interested in his fishing rod. This is one of the activities I want to do the most when I retire. Even watching it gives you peace. 🙂
Çayımı bitirdikten sonra yürüyüşe devam ettim ve balık tutmaya çalışan birisini gördüm. Sandalyesine oturmuş, çayını yudumluyor bir taraftan da oltası ile ilgileniyordu. Emekli olunca en çok yapmak istediğim aktivitelerden biriside bu. İzlemek bile insana huzur veriyor. 🙂
While walking on the beach, I noticed wooden houses built for stray animals. Recently, such practices have increased in our country. This shows how much we value animals. They also need a warm home, especially in cold weather.
The best part is that the houses of these creatures have a sea view. 🙂
Sahilde yürürken sokak hayvanları için yapılan ahşap evler dikkatimi çekti. Son zamanlarda ülkemizde bu tür uygulamalar arttı. Bu da hayvanlara ne kadar değer verdiğimizi gösteriyor. Özellikle soğuk havalarda sıcak bir yuvaya onlarında ihtiyacı var.
En güzel tarafı da bu canlıların evlerinin deniz manzaralı olması. 🙂
After walking on the beach for a short while, I left. When I thought about it, I realized that Istanbul really is never ending. There are different, beautiful places to discover in every street of every city. I plan to visit Pendik and Kartal in the future.

Kısa bir süre daha sahilde yürüdükten sonra ayrıldım. Şöyle bir düşündüm de İstanbul gerçekten gezmekle bitmiyor. Her şehrinde her sokağında farklı, keşfedilecek güzel yerler var. İlerleyen zamanlarda Pendik ve Kartal tarafını gezmeyi düşünüyorum.
