Neocollyris is a genus of tiger beetles that is widespread in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. They are known to have slim bodies, long legs, and large jaws that are used to prey on other small insects. Their body colors are often shimmery – ranging from metallic green to blue or purple, making them interesting subjects to photograph and observe.
I found this Neocollyris in an area of damp soil that was overgrown with bushes and fallen leaves, in a place that was not too open. Although active during the day, they are very agile and can easily fly or run if disturbed. Environments with low vegetation and fairly open ground seem to be its favorite habitat.
NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
