Dolomedes mizhoanus

Today I went back to exploring the local people's oil palm plantations, looking for interesting objects to photograph. While walking by the small river that ran through the garden, my eyes fell on something on a rock in the middle of the water. After getting closer and taking a closer look, it turned out to be a spider!

This spider is Dolomedes mizhoanus, a type of semi-aquatic spider that is often found around water. Maybe he was looking for a cooler place, or was drinking water from a damp rock surface. I didn't want to disturb him for too long, so I just took a few photos before letting him get back to his business.

Finding spiders like this around water is always interesting. They have the unique ability to walk on the surface of the water and even catch prey from under the water. Have friends here ever found spiders like this too?

NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
