Keeping duty under the rain

in DBuzz12 days ago

Yesterday morning, I woke up at 5:20 am and began with my morning prayers. Despite still feeling sleepy, I knew I had to push through and tackle my household chores. With a busy day ahead, I had to stay focused on getting ready for work to avoid running late.

I headed to the kitchen, warmed up my leftover red oil rice, and portioned it into my food pack. I set it aside to cool while I quickly took my bath and got dressed for work. Once I was ready, I stepped out the door, feeling efficient since I hadn't planned on eating breakfast at home. This allowed me to get a head start on my day and arrive at work a bit earlier.

Upon arriving at the office, I signed in, changed into my work uniform, and began my duties. However, a few hours later, the weather took a sudden turn, and a heavy downpour ensued. Keeping watch in the rain is always a challenging task,
and our security post, which is essentially a small, partially open structure with a roof, offered little protection from the elements. The intense rain and strong winds made conditions extremely uncomfortable, and I struggled to endure the harsh weather.

As the rain intensified, the flow of cars in and out of the site increased, making my task even more difficult. I had to be constantly on standby, opening and closing the gate every minute, all while getting soaked in the rain. The raincoat provided was woefully inadequate, offering little protection from the elements. It was barely enough to cover my body, and water still seeped through, but I made do with it, having no other option.
