This week's theme (ROUND 273)
SHOW ME A PICTURE OF BIRD. FREE THEME

Hey, @nelinoeva. How's things?
A little over three weeks ago, I told you about the ducks that I saw for the first time this spring. These were the Eurasian Wigeon. At the time, I thought they had just decided to take a break in our area when flying to more northern areas of the country. But I was wrong.
On May 24, during a walk, I saw 2 of these drakes at once. This means that not one duck family has settled on our reservoirs, but several. And, apparently, the mother ducks are already sitting on the nests. Those were my thoughts at the time.

Yes, last time I talked about these birds, I said that my next story would be about a cheerful, cunning woodpecker, but last week I made a trip to the North, and my plans changed.

In the northern regions of the country, the world of waterfowl is more diverse than in our region. Every time I visit my son, I walk along the lake in their town and see some new birds there every time. This time I went to see the swans and met the swans I already knew. The mother duck is not sitting on the nest yet, because the climate is cooler than ours.
It seemed to me that the ducks didn't pay attention to the people in the park because the distance to them was about 150 meters. But as soon as I decided to get closer to the shore of the lake, I immediately realized my mistake.

The drake jumped off the raft and decided to swim away from me. He even forgot about his girlfriend. It was unexpected.
Am I really that scary? Is he that afraid of people?

Today, on a walk with a dog along the river, we scared another swiyaz drake out of the coastal bushes. He rose into the air and flew closer to the middle of the river. Its white spots on the wings create a special beauty during flight. It should not be confused in flight with the mallard drake.
Definitely, this bird turned out to be my favorite this spring! I hope I'll see them again, and maybe even with the kids.

Thanks a lot for the comment.
But I won't put a link. 😂

Cute little ducks, very similar looking to the wigeons I see in Arizona.

🙏🙏🙏 thank you for your comment 🙏🙏🙏

Where is Arizona and where is Vyatka... And we have so much in common.
