A Trip to the Tenge Besi Bridge, Bener Meriah, Witnessing the Destruction Due to Landslides and Floods, Beauty Destroyed by Natural Disasters

in Worldmappin2 months ago

Bireuen-Takengon national route, precisely at KM 62, the Tege Besi bridge in Bener Meriah district was completely destroyed after flash floods hit my area in the last few months and I'm sure you must have seen how terrible the disaster was through the social media that was scattered around.

Good evening, my friends, wherever you are. I hope you are all healthy and happy so you can go about your daily activities as usual. I hope you all have a pleasant day.

A few days ago, my friends and I traveled to Bener Meriah, a tropical forest area. Our main goal was to enjoy the pristine natural surroundings. However, a natural disaster has recently struck my area in the past few months, so I also wanted to see the tense situation and atmosphere in the area. One example of this can be found at Area Km 62, at the Tenge Besi Bridge.

Okay, friends, please continue following my blog to see what's happening in the area through my travels over the past few days.

As I mentioned above, a few days ago, my friends and I traveled to Bener Meriah, a district in Aceh that is part of a tropical forest area. When we arrived at the Bireuen-Takengon national road, specifically at kilometer 62, at the Tenge Besi Bridge, I witnessed severe damage along a 2-kilometer stretch that temporarily stranded the residents of Tanah Gayo. The bridge collapsed, the road collapsed into a ravine, cliffs collapsed, and vegetation was uprooted.
This area was once a natural reclamation area frequented by people traveling from Bireuen to Takengon.

Tenge Besi is a popular destination for travelers from Bireuen to Takengon, as it offers views of valleys that meander through tropical forests. The cool atmosphere and stunning landscape views are a delight.

I've often witnessed this landscape in this area. However, this time, I found numerous banners scattered throughout the area, with some areas obscured by danger zones. Furthermore, the images I've shared also show large sections of the roadway having collapsed into the ravine.

My friend...
I felt so sad when I passed through this area. It used to be one of my frequent stops on my journey from Bireuen to Takengon. However, after the area was devastated by the frequent rains and the devastating natural disasters that have struck my area in recent months, this area is now extremely dangerous to traverse.

Although this path is usually used by many pedestrians, it is not yet safe, as any unfavorable weather can trigger further landslides. You can see in some of the images I shared above that landslides have covered the damaged road, which has now been cleared. Traces are still visible, and the cliffs above are also highly susceptible to further landslides.

This is the Tenge Besi Bridge, located at kilometer 62. At the start of the natural disaster, it was completely destroyed by flash floods and landslides. However, after considerable effort by the local government, an emergency bridge has been built in the area. This has greatly helped the local Gayo residents who were stranded due to the collapsed bridge and the road collapsing into the ravine.

However, this area has not fully recovered and remains extremely dangerous to traverse.

The damage in this area is very severe, where I personally saw the damage almost 2 km long, even though this used to be a very beautiful place and the atmosphere was so cool along the way, now, when I was traveling, the atmosphere was so tense and traces of landslides were still visible along the road, also with trees that were starting to become less dense.

This is also one of my favorite areas to stop by on my trip from Bireuen to Takengon. In the past, along the sidewalk, we could see wildlife such as monkeys, apes, and orangutans.

You can also see some food leftovers brought by passersby who stopped by to see these primates. But now, all of that has disappeared. I couldn't find a single primate on the sidewalk. Instead, I saw the remains of a landslide, along with a tense atmosphere.

After passing through the area, my friends and I finally felt a little relieved because the road ahead wasn't as bad as the Tenge Besi bridge area. We also stopped at a friend's shop to enjoy a cup of Gayo coffee. Gayo is famous for its quality, so I figured we shouldn't miss this opportunity.

Okay, friends, those are some pictures and a short post from me on this blog. I hope you all enjoyed and enjoyed what I've shared. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who took the time to view and read my blog to the end.

Leave your comments, support, and input, which means a lot to me so I can make this blog even better in the future. I also hope for your prayers and support so we can weather this disaster.

That's all for now.
Greetings, everyone.
See you in my next blog.
