Hello all book lovers, I hope you are having a wonderful day. Yesterday was celebrated World Book and Language Day, and beyond wanting to share a post that only talks about this special date, I wanted to add some other topics that are linked to this day.

World Book and Language Day

World Book and Language Day is celebrated every April 23rd, commemorating the deaths of Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, and Garcilaso de la Vega. The day aims to promote reading, literature, and the richness of the Spanish language.

I remember that on April 23, 6 years ago, I created my first literature blog, and I composed a short poetic prose that went like this: “It was always believed that on a day like today that great writer, an inspiration for many, an example for others, the father of Don Quixote, a legend full of mysteries, had died... and a day like today, in honor of him, the book is commemorated, that powerful source of knowledge, adventure, and pleasure.

On this day, I decided to publish this first edition, as virtual as its name, without any expectation of profit, only with the hope that the world will know my passion for writing, and perhaps, one day, it will become legendary for having opened its eyes to the public, on this day.”

Today, more emphasis is being placed on the importance of reading and the value that books hold in human life, because in some ways times have changed considerably and technology has distanced us greatly from this wonderful process.

Story Walk

In my city, in honor of Book Day, a morning walk was organized on Saturday, April 25th, where many book lovers will personalize their favorite characters from children's stories. It's called the Story Walk, and it's promoted by the Bichito de Luz Foundation.

The idea is to carry signs with messages that encourage reading. The program of activities also includes a morning of storytelling, a gallery of creative signs, and a book fair.

A Reflection on This Special Day

Every book contains within its lines a world of reflections that transform a human being. There will always be one very special book that becomes a guide in life, and they will completely identify with its content.

This happened to me with The Little Prince. This work marked my path so much that it allowed me to leave valuable learning imprints on my students through it... today it remains my favorite.

Reading not only captures hearts, it also cultivates souls.

Creating Physical Storybooks

A few weeks ago I took a watercolor workshop, and to practice the techniques, I wanted to illustrate some of my children's stories in sketchbooks. I started with my story, "A Forest Called Peace," and I hope it will be the first of many physical books that I want to keep as keepsakes.

Hola a todos los amantes de los libros, espero que estén pasando un maravilloso día. Ayer se celebró el Día Mundial del Libro y el Idioma, y más allá de querer compartir un post que únicamente hable de esta fecha especial, quise agregar algunos otros temas que se encuentren vinculados a este día.

Día del Libro y el Idioma

El Día del Libro y el Idioma se celebran cada 23 de abril, en conmemoración al fallecimiento de Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare y Garcilaso de la Vega. La fecha persigue promover la lectura, la literatura y la riqueza del castellano.

Recuerdo que un 23 de abril, hace 6 años, creé mi primer blog de literatura, y compuse una breve prosa poética que decía así: “Siempre se creyó que un día como hoy había muerto ese gran escritor, inspiración para muchos, ejemplo para otros, el padre del Quijote, una leyenda llena de misterios... y un día como hoy, en honor a él, se conmemora al libro, esa fuente poderosa de conocimientos, aventuras, y placer.

Un día como hoy, decido publicar esta primera edición tan virtual como su nombre, sin expectativas de lucro, tan sólo con la ilusión de que el mundo conozca mi pasión por la escritura, y quizás, algún día, se haga leyenda por haber abierto sus ojos al público, un día como hoy”.

Hoy en día, se le está dando más énfasis a la importancia de la lectura y el valor que encierran los libros en la vida del ser humano, porque de alguna manera los tiempos han cambiado notablemente y la tecnología nos ha apartado muchísimo de este maravilloso proceso.

Paseo de los cuentos

En mi ciudad, en honor al Día del Libro, se organizó un paseo matutino el día sábado 25 de abril, donde muchos amantes de los libros van a personalizar sus figuras favoritas de cuentos infantiles. Se llama Paseo de los Cuentos, y está promovido por la Fundación Bichito de Luz.

La idea es llevar carteles con mensajes que incentiven la lectura. El programa de actividades también tiene una mañana de cuentacuentos, galería de carteles creativos, y una expo-venta de libros.

Una reflexión en este día especial

Cada libro encierra en sus líneas, un mundo de reflexiones que transforman a un ser humano. Siempre va a existir uno muy especial que se convierta en su guía de vida, y él se identificará totalmente con su contenido.

A mí me sucedió con El Principito. Esta obra marcó tanto mi camino que me permitió dejar valiosas huellas de aprendizaje en mis alumnos a través de él... hoy sigue siendo mi favorito.

Leer no sólo atrapa corazones, también cultiva las almas.

Creando libros de cuentos en físico

Hace unas semanas hice un taller de acuarela, y para practicar un poco las técnicas, quise ilustrar algunos de mis cuentos infantiles en cuadernillos de dibujo.

Comencé por mi relato, “Un bosque llamado Paz”, y espero sea el primero de muchos libros en físico que quiero guardar de recuerdo.
