I think we all have that one friend who lies a lot. Yes, I have but this time, it’s not my friend. This lady, Deola is a friend to my sister and ever since I’ve known her, sge lies a lot.
Yes, I know people change for good but this lady doesn’t seem to make any change. I must say, it’s getting worse.
One afternoon, my sister and I were sitting at the shop when Deola’s WhatsApp call came through. America?, I heard my sister yell.
After she was done with the call, my sis told me that Deola has gone to America. You all need to see how happy I was when I heard that.
Weeks went by and Deola didn’t post a single picture of herself in America. She stopped picking our video calls and stopped responding to texts.
Fast forward to now, she’s been back from America for over five months now. There were no gifts from her nor a picture to prove that she really traveled.
Just two days ago, our amazing Deola texted my sister that her fiancé has traveled to Spain. There’s just something in me that told me that she’s lying.
I picked up his number from my sister’s phone and called him.
I acted like I had a contract at hand to give to him and he fell for it. In a nutshell, I eventually found out that he’s in Nigeria and Deola lied to us.
What do you think we should do? Watch her and let her get exposed by outsiders or advice her to stop lying? I’ve watched so many movies of people who live fake lives and it doesn’t end well for them because there will just be something that will ruin the whole thing which they’ve been doing.
There was a time when I saw a movie about a lady who lies a lot. She lied to the point that everyone around her stopped believing the littlest thing she says. Unfortunately for her, the day when she was saying the truth, it was an emergency and she expected them to believe her but they didn’t.
That’s what happens to anyone living a fake life. That day when the matter may be serious and may even be a life and death issue, no one will answer or mind you. Fake life never does you any good so do not even try to engage in such.
Just live your normal life and maybe your helper will locate you that way. So many people have been ignored by their helper because they lie a lot and sometimes, your helper may feel that you are okay enough and that you do not need any form of help.
You do not need to live to impress someone. Just be yourself and hope for the best to come. You don’t have to lie about better days. They will surely come at the right time and at the time when you will enjoy it the most.
