John Sevier lived a very busy life.
He fought in the American Revolution, was the first Governor of Tennessee and even tried to establish the State of Franklin.
He had 10 children with his first wife, Sarah (who died shortly after giving birth to their 10th child) and 8 children with his second wife, Catherine.
On September 24, 1815, John passed away a day after his 70th birthday while on a survey expedition in the Alabama Territory for President Madison.
