Old Town Triangle Historic District-Chicago

in Feel Good7 days ago

All photos in my post were taken with a Google Pixel phone, and I wanted to remind you that if you take photos with your mobile device you can enter the Phone Photography contest hosted by @untilwelearn with just 3 photos and 101 words!

HERE are the rules

These photos were taken in the Old Town Triangle District of Chicago.

The old butcher shop now houses Sullivan's Law Firm.

This area was settled in the 1850s by German immigrants, and community life centered around St. Michael Church. The Chicago Fire of 1871, however, destroyed all of the houses and most of the church. Many of the buildings were rebuilt using brick and rock I have more photos to share in another post taken inside the church.

Saint Michaels. Catholic church

Chicago has so many great neighborhoods, many of them with their own unique and distinct character. The Old Town Triangle requires more exploration in the future!

10% of this posts rewards goes to @untilwelearn with my thanks for hosting this fun contest. Remember to support the communities and contests that you enjoy.

Those twin houses look like they should have a connecting passageway!

They do seem disproportionate, don't they? An interesting way to take advantage of building on two small lots.

It's not necesary to go to Germany, because in every country are one! Greetings!

There were many German immigrants here in the 1800's. They brought their traditions with them.

The workers give each thing a beautiful design, and then the workers work hard to build it. This building looks much more beautiful. We don't see such designs in our city.

It has become a beautifully renovated neighborhood!

Wonderful old architecture 🙂 love all the little details they just don't put on buildings anymore. I've always liked the entranceways cut into the corner of a building. I expect a cozy neighborhood restaurant. Although looks like this one was converted to condos/apartments

At one point in my life we rented an old building like that with a corner entrance and had a bicycle shop there. It was originally the town's hospital, but never a restaurant.

Wow.. what a history!

The neighborhood is quite interesting!

That is a pretty cool historic area. The church is impressive. I love all of the character in the houses and building that you just don't see today. That bear is pretty cool, nice picture on that one!

Those last two pictures show those Chicago building built on smaller lots and build upward. It was a good way for a builder to make more money on limited land plot space. Thanks for sharing, very cool!

In the recent past Old Town has seen a lot of renovation and has become quite an upscale neighborhood. It's a pleasure to visit there now.

oh, your photos are stunning @melinda010100.. especially the St. Michael Church photo.. It's huge and the architecture is amazing.. Near my new house also stands another St. Michael Church.. it's small and a bit old.. but the church is exerting so much effort to make it bigger to accommodate the growing number of parishioners.. Our town is also named after the archangel "San Miguel". Which was influenced by Spanish colonization..
Maybe I can post it here on Hive next time.. 😊
Have a great day 💛
