Decir que la vida estos últimos meses ha sido difícil se queda un poco corto. Porque son lugar a dudas han sido meses donde nos ha tocado ser más fuertes, pero unidas hemos sabido afrontar todo lo que nos ha tocado vivir. Tal vez para algunos no sea tanto, pero para nosotras ha sido mucho. Aún sin un diagnóstico 100% preciso. Solo sabemos que es una hemorragia intestinal pero sin saber que la produjo porque han sido tantos los contratiempos que hemos enfrentado en el camino. Pero aún así con una sonrisa en la cara tratando de afrontar todo esto de la mejor manera posible. Creo que enfermarse en ningún lugar del mundo es económico, pero aquí algunas veces es tan complicado y la pregunta que más nos hacemos es: De dónde vamos a sacar más dinero para pagar esto?
To say that life these past few months has been difficult is an understatement. Without a doubt, these have been months where we've had to be stronger, but together we've faced everything that's come our way. Perhaps for some it's not so much, but for us it's been a lot. Even without a 100% accurate diagnosis, we only know it's intestinal bleeding, but we don't know what caused it because of all the setbacks we've faced. But even so, with a smile on our faces, we're trying to face all of this in the best way possible. I think getting sick is expensive anywhere in the world, but here it's sometimes so complicated, and the question we ask ourselves most often is: Where are we going to get more money to pay for this?
Las horas que hemos pasado en los hospitales y clínicas han sido muchas, mientras ella recibe algún tratamiento o una transfusion yo espero, tal vez pensando mucho o no pensando casi nada. Muchas veces agradeciendo porque estamos haciendo algo para que ella esté mejor, agradeciendo porque hemos encontrado buenos doctores y buenas enfermeras que nos han ayudado mucho. Tener un familiar enfermo es tan difícil, se me ha hecho cuesta arriba al ser hija única y estar de en lado a otro.
We've spent countless hours in hospitals and clinics, waiting while she receives treatment or a transfusion, sometimes thinking a lot, sometimes not at all. Often, I'm grateful that we're doing something to make her better, grateful that we've found good doctors and nurses who have helped us so much. Having a sick family member is so difficult; it's been especially hard being an only child and constantly being moved from one place to another.
Este día en específico había que hacerle una transfusion de sangre, ya que el sangrado no ha sido detenido aún, ha mejorado pero ella sigue perdiendo sangre por ende la hemoglobina baja y ella se siente débil. Al llegar al hospital me fui directamente al banco de sangre donde me entregan un tubo para tener una nuestra de sangre de ella y poder darme unas muestras que se le hacen a la sangre para descartar que tengan ciertas enfermedades, esto tarda aproximadamente 4 horas. En las que simplemente no podemos hacer más nada que esperar.
On this particular day, she needed a blood transfusion because the bleeding hadn't stopped. She had improved, but she was still losing blood, so her hemoglobin was low and she felt weak. When I arrived at the hospital, I went straight to the blood bank where they gave me a tube to take a blood sample from her and to have some tests done to rule out certain diseases. This takes about four hours. During that time, there was nothing we could do but wait.
Este día nos levantamos temprano y ella tenía sueño, cuando vamos a el lugar donde le hacen la transfusión de sangre debemos llevar nuestras sábanas, una almohada, ella lleva su comida para antes de la transfusión comer algo. Este día en específico ella estaba de mal humor pues tenía sueño y además el aire acondicionado se había dañado y tenía calor a cada rato decía que se quería ir.
We woke up early that day, and she was sleepy. When we go to the place where she gets her blood transfusion, we have to bring our own sheets and a pillow. She brings her own food to eat before the transfusion. That particular day, she was in a bad mood because she was sleepy, and also because the air conditioning was broken, and she was hot. She kept saying she wanted to leave.
Finalmente llegaron los resultados de los exámenes que se le hacen a la sangre y todo salió bien así que procedieron a colocarle la sangre para la transfusion. Esto tarda unas cuantas horas, así que yo como podía le echaba un poco de aire para que no tuviera tanto calor y habla a con ella para entretenerla un poco. Y es un poco lo que escribí al principio ha sido un proceso bastante duro para ambas, porque al final del día ella es la que está enferma y se siente mal. Agradecida estamos de que en este lugar no se tiene que pagar tanto como en la clínica, ya que las dos primeras transfusiones se le realizaron en una clínica y fueron casi 800$
Finally, the blood test results came back, and everything was fine, so they proceeded with the transfusion. This takes a few hours, so I tried to fan her a little to keep her cool and talk to her to distract her. As I mentioned at the beginning, it's been quite a difficult process for both of us because, at the end of the day, she's the one who's sick and feeling unwell. We're grateful that this place doesn't cost as much as the clinic, since her first two transfusions were done at a clinic and cost almost $800.
Aquí ya habían terminado con la transfusion y ella estaba de mejor ánimo, confío que pronto su salud este restablecida por completo. Está semana debemos repetir unos exámenes de sangre y de heces para ver cómo va todo, el último examen que repetimos todo había mejorado bastante, espero está semana todo esté mucho mejor.
They had already finished the transfusion and she was in better spirits. I'm confident her health will be fully restored soon. We need to repeat some blood and stool tests this week to see how everything is progressing. The last test we repeated showed significant improvement, and I hope everything will be much better this week.
